Never done Fairhope or The Grand. Always wanted to take the wife there for a 2 night trip. I was just wondering what this board’s opinion of The Grand are.

Are there better options in the Fairhope area, such as B&Bs, which are lower priced but offer basically the same thing???

I don’t much care about the number of tennis courts or the massage parlor. I’m more focused on resting by the pool or the water.

Thank you.

Then why go to the grand? You can rest by a pool and water plenty of places. Just trying to see what the appeal would be. To me, the decision to go there is based in doing things not just sitting by the pool. Whether it's golf, shopping, pickleball, croquet, fishing, etc.

We are usually on a budget, but this place is on my wishlist for a shoot the moon vacation in Fairhope.

We make a yearly trip to the Grand Hotel and always enjoy it although the price does seem to increase faster than anything else. All of the amenities are top notch, it's an easy drive into Fairhope. It's a slower pace, nice pools for adults as well as a separate one for the kids. And the breakfast buffet can't be beat, nor can a drink and cigar at Bucky's.

I’m not aware of anything on the water or with a comparable pool. And I’m sure it would be as expensive if it was. But curious as to whether others might have suggestions as I have looked in the past.

Not sure this is of interest: The Cottages on Bancroft

It’s kinda like going to White Sulphur Springs and not staying at The Greenbrier.

Page and Palette Apartments

Center of downtown above the bookstore. No pool, but you can go down to the tiki bar at the American Legion. Feet in the sand, bushwhackers, watch the sun set.

Was something like $450/night a few years ago. That's a lot for what you get. There's a Hampton up the bay by I-10 with the same view (or better) for $130 a night. Is the Grand worth $300 more per night, especially when you can drive over and eat/drink at the Grand anyway? Probably not.

It's also not walkable to downtown Fairhope unless you want to walk an hour or so.

Good restaurants, great view.

Also consider some off-property spots that are better for food. Kingfisher. Wash house. Southwood. Market by the Bay is real low key but great bar and grill food. Manci's and Callaghans are good dive bars with bar food. Also consider walking the entertainment district in Mobile for lunch one day. Debris is a good po boy.
