Flying to Munich this evening - business class on Lufthansa's A380 (the older layout)... 70k points + $130 via Aeroplan.

We have reservations in the Shottenhammel and Lowenbrau tents throughout the week.

Dinner reservations at Tantris on Saturday night, hitting up Augustiner Keller one evening, and some dumpling place a friend reserved and I forgot the name of.

Visit to Neuschwanstein set for Wednesday.

I'll attempt my best H2O Tiger impression and see if I can post pictures in here. I don't promise his type of results, but I'll do my best.

Prost!

Love this beer garden. Was probably my favorite the last time I was there. Didn't eat that the restaurant, but walked around a bit, it was gorgeous.

What hotel did you end up booking?

Hope the weather holds up for you at Neuschwanstein; it's been pretty dreary here lately.

Be glad you weren't at Oktoberfest yesterday morning. Some guy burned down his parents' house in north Munich and sent a bomb threat to Oktoberfest. Everything shut down to search the place. Gates opened 7 hours later...

I thought I had seen where he killed himself too and they actually did find an explosive device (not sure if it was actually at Oktoberfest or just near by or what)?

Nothing found at Oktoberfest. It's back open, and there are talks of potentially extending it by another day (doubtful).

Went ahead and booked a hotel for 2026. Grabbed Eden Wolff Hotel for three nights. Cancellable up to 7 days prior, so will keep shopping around to see if can get any better deals, but for pretty nice hotel at $550/night that is easy walking distance to Wiesn and Old town as well as right downt he street from Augustiner-Keller, may just stick with it. Not seeing many better than it anyways that aren't your lower end hotels (which aren't a problem either). I'm sure plenty are showing availability yet, but better or worse got one locked down that is reasonable all things considered.

For those that love Oktoberfest but want more Germans than tourists, Fruhlingfest in late April, early May is terrific. Started going to that over Oktoberfest some years ago, and it is much much cheaper.

More Germans than tourists? It’s like 90% Germans at Oktoberfest if not more

It is about 30% tourists at Oktoberfest...thus why all the English.

Again, I love Oktoberfest, just giving options.
