On the waiting list for a party of 2 during September trip to Copenhagen.

Has anyone on the TB been recently? Considering the costs, is it worth it?

it is widely considered one of the best restaurants in the world

if you can swing the cost, I'd say just the experience would make it "worth it", which is obviously a subjective measure

someone recently went on the FDB, I'll see if I can find the thread

Not been myself but a few of my friends (typical OT story, I know) have been. They have all raved about it as an experience that was worth it. Not necessarily that everything they ate was the delicious but that it is such a different dining experience.

For those high end, world class restaurants with the Michelin Stars and World's Best monikers, it might help not to try and compare it to say your favorite restaurant in your home town. But instead treat it like going to see a play or other artistic performance. For instance, I think its crazy to spend $800 or whatever to see Hamilton. That sounds boring to me, but I understand its other people's dream. If you want to eat there, chances are it will be "worth it" to you. Unless it just totally sucks and then its probably a great story.

Is this the place he has a test kitchen on the water that David Chang went to for his show? Looked like an interesting place.

One of those restaurants with incredibly small dishes of the absolutely best ingredients money can buy. Also he uses a lot of very contemporary and cutting edge methods I believe?

Yes, that is the new NOMA that opened not too long ago.

This is excellent advice as always

Video on opening of new location

Yep, that's the one. It is "vegetable" season and the $563 per person cost (with wine pairing) is not playing well with my wife. We paid around $563 total for our most expensive dinner (for 2) a few years ago for "very" special occasion.

I have a back up reservation at a very nice place. But I am worried that, later in life, I'll regret passing on it if we actually got a confirmed seating.

If you can afford it, I would do it. You are talking about one of the very best restaurants in the entire world.

My wife would murder me if I booked it.

Well the one I was talking about was literally on the water, it was a boat or a barge in a downtown area.

I was about to ask how much, $1100 is about what I figured.

At least you don't have to tip much though given its in Europe amiright?

With a 25% VAT included in the price, it would be a small tip (if we go there).

The old location was next to the large channel going into old Copenhagen, near the Opera House. Lots of tourists peering into the windows while you ate was a drag, I am sure.

The new place is located near the water, in a somewhat remote, formerly-abandoned warehouse that was covered with graffiti until last year.

Had lunch there about 13 years ago..... Good but not worth the price. Very pretentious. 2 hours later I had a falafel in Christiana that was just as good for $5.
