Nola question regarding Marriott properties

Help me figure out why I wouldn't be able to book a room using points at neither the J.W. Marriott or the Marriott on Canal for this Saturday night?
I can't imagine they are full. I'm thinking they have limited rooms available due to Covid or something, but nothing on their websites or facebook mentions it.

They might have a 2 night minumum

2 night minimum would be the correct answer

Thanks. Seems like they would be begging for customers and most of their other properties allow for a one night booking.
I want to bring my wife to go sit at one of the hotel pools and drink. Hotels always lead to romance.

You can book the two nights w/ points and call the front desk and see if they'll cancel/refund one night.
My guess is they've got "rules" in place traditionally that they never updated in the system following COVID. I also know Marriott reimburses point stays with the hotels at different rates based on length of stay, % occupied, etc.

Are those specific hotels back open yet? Some Marriott's haven't reopened.

Not sure. It seemed like if they are going to have 14 other properties open that they would open the J.W. property.
Not sure if I'm going to book anything now, but it looks like it's down to the Marriott by the convention center with the below average pool or just going with the Ritz.

I don’t believe the Ritz has an outdoor pool.

I know. I was debating no pool with a nicer property vs a lowered end pool property.
I’ve about talked myself into waiting until the early fall and redeeming points for three nights at the Grand in Point Clear

I just called the JW Marriott on Canal & their voicemail says "We have temporarily suspended operations."
