My work booked a flight for me on Copa Airline out of MSY and only put my first and last name. My first and middle names are listed as given names on my passport.
Anybody have experience with this out of MSY on Copa?

The only issue I’ve had with that was my United FF miles wouldn’t transfer into my account because my FF program had my middle name on it (because that’s what I go by) and the ticket was booked using my first name listed on my passport.

First of all, get it straightened out at your work. It's not just an MSY/Copa problem - you could have problems on any leg of your trip. I have had this happen twice - first, no problem, second was on second leg of a return flight - gate personnel noticed it (ATL)and demanded another form of identification that had my middle name on it (maiden name listed as middle on passport). Fortunately I had my driver's license with me and it had the correct info - may or may not have been accepted in a foreign country. I had flown from home town to Atlanta, to Athens, to Rome, to Atlanta and that was when it was noticed.
Just to be safe, I would try to have something with your middle name on it - perhaps a letter (notarized?) from employer with info. Maybe they can call airline and see what can be done..who doesn't know that passport name and ticket name has to be the same on international flights???

Call and have them rebook the ticket with the correct name. It’s not worth the headache. I’ve seen people hung up at MSY for this

They booked it based on my name in the Payroll system. I have been with the company for 17 years. It is the 1st time I have to travel internationally. They said it was my problem because I should have made sure my name is right in payroll. I guess I will call the Airline and pay the change fee.

I have a slightly related question. I have a flight to Japan next week booked with United and on my ticket it combined my first and middle names into one name without spaces. For example, instead of saying “SMITH/ JOHN JACOB” it says “SMITH/ JOHNJACOB.” Is this going to be a problem?

Is that something that you can call United and have changed?

They take out spaces to save room.
For my problem, I called Copa, they told me to email a copy of my passport and they will correct my ticket for no charge.
I am flying business class, so I don't know I this is free for everyone.

I flew Continental/United twice a month for 18 years. My name was always listed with no spaces and it was never a problem and I went through security a minimum of 4 times per trip.

And SWA too, once I started checking.
Delta always uses my middle name and American does on International travel.
Odd that it's not uniform.
I would also doubt that your seating class has anything to do with whether they would reticket you for free.
Subtle brag though. I've done Business Class on PTY to/from NOLA. You won't mistake it for Emirates or Condor's Business class.

Call the airline and have them "correct" the spelling on your ticket. There's no fee and it's not a big deal.
