Lots of finger pointing on here. Some may be right, some not.

Either way, that sounds like a total nightmare.

I think it’s bullshite for the us to deny entry to the country of US citizens. frick this stupid shite.

Wife and I have a trip to Cancun in April. Resort has already said they would offer free testing with results for departure and would extend your stay for free for 14 days if positive. Going to watch the internet reviews to see how it goes, hopefully the cdc gets it’s shite together

BVI requires a test when you get on their islands. They also require you to quarantine on an authorized sailing vessel for 4 days until results come in.

I assume the 1/26 timeline is if you are coming from a foreign country?

Wife and I going to Punta Cana on Feb 23rd. No test is required to enter Dominican Republic but you can randomly be selected when entering country for a rapid test. From what I have read its 3 to 5% that will get tested. To enter US we will have to take a free rapid test before getting on plane and if that result would be positive the resort will extend stay for 10 days for free is what I have read.

Ya, the more I've seen this hemisphere's response to the requirement the more it's going to push travel to this side of the world unless other places come up with similar policies.

The sheer mass of US visitors to Mexico and Caribbean makes this something they have to do.

A 5 star resort in Thailand does not.

Going to Bahamas next month. Must have a test within 5 days of arrival and another within 3 days of arrival back in the US. So part of my tip will be spent at a clinic getting tested.

I went last month, it will take 10 minutes.

I might need to bring my wife to Barbados though, 14 days to myself on the beach sounds like the opposite of a nightmare!

Am I the only one that seems to understand that, yes all hospitals south of our border are likely sketchy? That's just the risk of going to central america.

They aren’t and many of their doctors attended medical school in the US.

My wife badly sprained her ankle in Belize. I thought it was broken. X Rays, doctor, wrap and crutches and prescription. $96. If anything it showed me just how bloated, over insured and overpriced our healthcare system is. The care she received was excellent in what most certainly is one of the poorest and most third world countries in Central America.

You are right, if I catch Covid I’ll go to Belize for treatment...a nurse in the US is making $25/ hour and that’s before employee costs and benefits. So $96 would maybe cover one hour of a nurse in the USA but you own a business and know that.

Maybe sketchy was the wrong word, but my point stands that with everything going on with governments involvement in Covid if you catch it overseas it’s not likely to be an enjoyable time. The chance of that happening is extremely low, but none the less shouldn’t be surprising.

I’m not gonna risk going to any big city or state right now.

I’ll be taking the family to the mountains again this summer

And that's why we just got back from a country that does not require testing for entry..

We had an 8 day sailing trip through the Lesser Antilles planned for December 2020 and scrapped it in October due to the weird arse rules in each little country down in the region.

Would have been a nightmare.

Ha! I know a couple that went on a cruise with stop in Cozumel. The wife fell and broke her arm while in port. Mexican hospital tried to shake them down for $5K even with insurance.
