My friend's getting married in March, and so I've got to start planning a bachelor party. One of the options is New Orleans, and we'd go either in January or after Mardi Gras.

Any advice on planning it there? Hotel/Air BNB/VRBO recs? I found some pretty good itineraries for restaurants and stuff to do when we're not drinking, but anything else would be appreciated.

When the sun starts to set, leave the French Quarter. That's my only advice.

This. A few others:
- pack heat
- wear bullet-proof vests
- make a living will

Good luck.

Let me guess, this thread started on the OT. Typical dumbass responses one would expect.

I can't help with VRBO or BNB stuff, but I can give advice about hotels. The Royal Sonesta on Bourbon would be fun for a bachelor party if that's in your price range. Across the street within a few blocks is a more budget friendly place(I think it's a Ramada property) That has more balcony rooms that the Royal Sonesta.

Any of the big chain hotels on Canal would be fine if they end up being more affordable.

Start looking at weekends and doing some price comparisons as prices can jump a lot depending on what conventions/events are going on in the city.

Don't neglect other parts of the city as Bourbon will get old pretty quick. Frenchman St, the Warehouse District, Uptown along Magazine St, and down to Oak Street are fun too.

If you have specific questions about bars and restaurants, don't be afraid to ask on the food and drink board.

Highly recommend doing it in January if y'all want to save money. The conventions drive prices up right after Mardi grAs through April.

Check out The Atlas House on magazine street. You can rent out the whole house and sleep about 25.

Nola motor sports is a cool option for a day activity if y'all want to get out of the quarter for a bit.

What’s the point in going to a bachelor party in New Orleans just to leave the French quarter at sundown?

People are so strange. New Orleans has a well deserved reputation as a badass location for a bachelor party. I did mine in NOLA. Huge steak dinners, tons of wine, casino, golf, etc.

Don’t go to New Orleans for a BP- it sucks.

Do Vegas or Atlantic City.

If you really want to go nuts- fly to San Diego and spend a crazy weekend in Tijuana.
