re: My Disney World Thanksgiving Trip Report

When my son was 2 it was about 1:00 and hot as hell in May one afternoon. We rode the Carousel of Progress twice for a nap. I fell asleep too. It was a great relief on the feet and the heat.

We did the Nemo musical at Animal Kingdom once to beat the heat too and my kids actually loved it because they had just seems Finding Dory. It’s a cheap production that I wouldn’t see unless the kids wanted to. I’m not a fan of shows in general.

Leaving Orlando in the morning, got here On Sunday and spent 4 days at Disney and today at universal. It was a “dead week” by Disney standards but still seemed pretty crowded to me. We did mickeys very merry Christmas party on Tuesday and it was 100% worth it, it cut down over 1/2 the park attendance and there were 5-10 minute waits for every ride except for 7 dwarfs which was around 30 minutes (typically well over an hour).

I agree with some earlier posts regarding animal kingdom, we did Everest and flight of passage and they’re great but the park itself just doesn’t seem to warrant an entire day. If I replanned this vacation I’d skip it and do an extra day at universal.

Universal drastically exceeded my expectations and we didn’t even do islands of adventure which is widely regarded as the better park. Escape from gringotts was the last thing we did here and that was quite the send-off, they nailed that ride. When we come back in a few years we will definitely spend more time here since hopefully the kids will be more into rides and less into meeting characters and seeing shows.

PS if you have young kids buy grandma tickets and bring them with you, having a babysitter with you to watch the kids so you can sneak off with the wife and have fun will change the experience for you.

Most days the parks open at 9am but they let people through security/gates an hour before to a portion of the park. For instance, in Magic kingdom they let you into the Main Street area and the Hub at 8am but stop you at each of the “spokes” leading to each land. There’s a park opening show in front of the castle that technically “opens” the park just before 9am. Rope dropping means you’re getting to the park well before park opening to be there when the “ropes” blocking you to each land drops and the crowd floods in.

Don’t think you are going to beat crowds by showing up at 9am. Plan to show up 30mins-1 hour before park opening. Going though bag check/security always takes longer than u think.

Flight of passage was the only thing I’d come back to this place for.

Outside of the obv joy it brings most kids.

Younger kids and snowflake beta kids still whine and cry like heathens.
Fat people and handicap people on scooters get annoying... no different than Walmart.

I’m not coming back.

This place is for kids.
Adults who come here alone are pedos.
Fact.

solid report. you definitely did a lot considering the size of your party and age of kids.

my wife is a Disney wizard. she has planned our trips there to the last detail and we rarely have any wasted time.

as the kids got older the trips changed, as did the meals and overall focus. last time we were there, we spent more time in Epcot than any of the others.

for all of my shitting in the place, it is a fun and "magical" time if you plan well

Scooter people are annoying especially when they have kids in their lap steering for them. 75% of these people have no need for these. Lazy is not a handicap.

I watched it 5’times

Need to incorporate darth Vader in it and play the imperial march song.

Toy land too crowded.

Magic kingdom was by far most crowded park.
I likes Dino land at Ak.
All animals were out when we rode safari which was cool.
I liked Disney springs area.. went to splitsvulle and some Cuban place.
One night went to Polynesian and had a luau... it was ok but MK firework show was going off as it ended so everybody enjoyed that.
I thought overall the food was below avg.
the snack part was awesome ... after walking 42 miles I didn’t feel bad about smashing ice cream sandwiches and cho chos.

I liked Epcot.
Mission space was somewhat cool,,,, but after flight of passage everything else was 1980s.

Saw beauty beast, Indiana Jones, muppets, frozen.
All this was for the kids.
I don’t care to go back.

I hate lines and people in general annoy me.
I was happy to see people from all over the world be cramed in together and still be civilized and cordial.... with that said many foreigners have zero concept of personal space and using the term excuse me is non existent.

My Disney days are over.
Been there and now have done that.

SO and I go during The International Food and Wine Festival. We stay on or near The Boardwalk and spend most of our trip at EPCOT. It is nice to get up and just stroll into EPCOT through the International Gateway. Very laid back and fun trip. Soo much food and drinks! I guess that makes us Pedos
