Spent 3 days in Cleveland, mostly did drinking and looking so not a food review.
The Arcade

Most of the stores in here we're closed, the hotel and a couple of restaurants looked to be thriving though. It is one of the oldest buildings in Cleveland and cool to just walk in for a few.
Mitchell's Ice Cream Parlor

Was a nice place, they make all of their own ice cream in shop, so when they run out they are out. Line was crazy

West Side Market

Great place to buy produce, meat, cheese, and pastry. Walked around and purchased some jerky to eat while I walked around.
The Christmas Story House

I didn't do the tour since I've never seen the movie

I did hit up these breweries in no particular order
Platform
Nano
West Side Market
Terrestrial
Goldhorn
Great Lakes
Brim
Butcher and the Brewer
Saucy
Porthouse
Cleveland Brewery

Random Pictures

Overall a fun little time, of course I did a lot of drinking but tried to hit up as much as I could. Was raining for two of the days I was in town but I hit a minor league game and an Indians game. Ate at Melt and a few other local options. Area I stayed was only 5 minutes from downtown so nothing was far out actually.

Thanks for sharing. Cleveland doesn't look like as bad a place to visit as a lot of people make it out to be.

It does looks sort of devoid of humanity -- at least based on his photos.

It really wasn't, I found more to do than I originally thought. I wanted to hit the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame but the day and time didn't work out for me. Also, I wanted to do some canoeing on Lake Erie but it rained.
Plenty of night life as well which surprised me, but the ghetto and the nice part can be divided by a street

I've stayed in downtown Cleveland a few times--my wife has family in the area. Was very safe walking about a mile to the Jake and hitting up bars on the way back

Which, to be fair, is true of a lot of cities in the U.S.

It's still trying to shed the image it rightly had in the 70's and 80's. My aunt and uncle have lived there for years, and it's a totally different city today than it was in the 80's when we'd go visit them.

Going to Indians and Browns games in that big dumpy stadium they used to have was always interesting.

Being that I've done the Christmas Story thing too, I find it odd you state this. That neighborhood is a poster child of what went bad in Cleveland. It's falling apart. The house itself was falling apart too until the guy saw the potential in buying it off Ebay.

Cleveland may be off its lows though, as with most things, people overreact and may have oversold there.

Sandusky where Cedar Point is...woof. Another good example.

Fish in a barrel, my man. Town's the fish, people are the barrel. Fish in a barrel.

Neighborhood wasn't bad actually, at least the part I rode through. A lot of houses were being "fixed" or looked fairly new.

We went back in 09' right at the end of May. LeBron had lost game 6 of the ECF to the Magic, and in Game 5 he had hit the top of the key 3 to win the game...if they had a game 7 for the ECF we would have been in Cleveland for that. We had Yankees/Indians tickets that night and that would have been an easy swap to go check out an NBA ECF Game 7...no brainer there. Unfortunately we just saw the Yanks. The town was "dead", meaning the downtown area didn't have much going on.

This was pre "THE DECISION" for LeBron, but speaking with some local owners at bars and restaurants they def said they thrive more when the Cavs are playing, and when they are not it's not as busy. This was also a big depressing time in America when all of the Motor Companies were in the news so towns like Detroit and Cleveland got bad wraps...Plenty of people stay in the sub burbs and it was crazy to see the downtown area like a ghost town.

Other than those tid bits....we checked out the Rock and Roll HOF, Corner Alley I think? Cool Bowling Alley across from "The Arcade", Walked around Browns Stadium near the lake. We hit the NFL HOF (30 min south of Cleveland) on our way from Pitt to Cleve, and also stopped at LeBron's HS in Akron.

Nice little trip we did seeing some odd ball things. I remember hitting up the Market and Great Lakes Brewery. Wish we would have hit up some more Breweries, but I really liked that area with the Market. I'd go back, but would have to be something going on to draw me there.

It definitely will go back into the tank if LeBron leaves again....

You went in 2009 when the economy was at rock bottom. Have a little perspective.

Yeah I went to Corner Alley, didn't take pictures though. Also hit Barrios, Jack's, Cleveland Browns stadium, walked by Quicken Loans, and the pier/wharf/docks.
Ended up playing checkers with some old dude across from West Side Market as well

I will say I've never been to a city where they have as much pride as Cleveland. Everything is "We are Cleveland"

Last time I was up there was summer of 2014. We went to a couple of Indians games(one night game, one afternoon game) and the downtown area was pretty crowded for both. When the afternoon game let out, we went down to the Warehouse District and you could barely move around. It was so crowded, we ended up cabbing it to some other bar/restaurant district(forget the name of it; more hipsterish/bohemian vibe) and it too was pretty crowded.

I think Progressive Field is one of the nicest baseball stadiums in MLB.

Yes I did, seats were bigger than Spirit I know that. I didn't have a delay, both times we actually left early. Like they start boarding an hour before hand and shut it down earlier. So I ended up arriving earlier than I told my ride both times. paid 100 round trip with a carry on
