Any of you been this way? Looks like it's a bunch of cabin rentals. What types of things is in this area? Or nearby?

Helen-
Tubing down the river.
Hiking- tons of trails. Also Unicoi state park is nice.
Good German restaurants in Helen.
It’s a nice small town to walk around and enjoy cooler weather during the summer.
Get a good cabin and relax there and just go into Helen for a day or two.

I live in GA. Have never been to Mineral Bluff proper but it is near Blue Ridge which is a beautiful town. It also looks to be 45 min to Hiawassee which is nice as well (Lake Chatuge is awesome) and Young Harris is nice.

To me, you could get bored very quickly in Helen. Kind of a tourist trap (mini Gatlinburg with alot of T-shirt shops} but as previously mentioned good tubing and Anna Ruby falls is worth seeing.

You may also want to look into Dahlonega. Picturesque small town, great hiking nearby and plenty of wineries.

Ever since the tornadoes hit Helen hard, they seem to have moved further away from the silly Austria/German theme and doubled down on biker bars. It's definitely descended to Pigeon Forge levels of trashy.

Lots of nice areas surrounding it though.

The cops in Helen friggin suck. Overbearing and power tripping. They harassed my group at Oktoberfest one year trying to catch our designated driver drinking. I'll never step foot in that town again.

Personally, not a fan of Helen. But, we do go to Blue Ridge GA (45 minutes from Helen) quite often and it's our favorite spot. Tubing on the Toccoa River. Hiking. Swimming in Lake Blue Ridge. Nice little town with some good restaurants, shops and brew.

Our favorite restaurant is right on the river!

Tons of cabin rental options in the area at all price points. We just stayed 2 weeks ago in this one and loved it: Link

Loved this one too in nearby Cherry Log: Link.

Some good information here. I'll add Ellijay to this list as well.

I love hiking down in Tallulah Gorge. Classic river hiking, jumping from rock to rock in the river, it’s gorgeous down there.

Ellijay

The apple capital of Georgia. Would be a great spot to stay. You can go to so many places from there as well.
Fort Mountain State park is 30 minutes west. Dahlonega is 50 minutes east. Fainting Goat Vineyard is 30 minutes south. Hiawassee is only 1 hr north and Blue Ridge is close. Downtown Ellijay is worth walking through and you can tube the Cartecay River
