Been wanting to go to this tournament for a while and finally pulled the trigger this year and booked a hotel by Minute Maid & bought the weekend ticket package. Where are some cool spots in downtown Houston to drink, eat, etc. Been to Houston a few times but never stayed downtown. I’ve been to Little Woodrow’s in Austin and I see there is 2 in Houston. Any recommendations for a group of mid 20’s guys let me know!

You want the bars on 19th and 20th in the Heights.

Ninfa's or El Tiempo on Navigation in East Downtown will be the easiest for Tex Mex...I'd drive or take an Uber over to Candente in the Montrose though.

J Bar M BBQ in East Downtown...smoked barbacoa is where it's at here.

POST, Lyric, Bravery...all food halls downtown.

Truth BBQ on Washington, Pinkerton's in the Heights, Pit Room in the Montrose for BBQ.

There is a plethora of options, but off the top of my head those are the best places I can think of for a group of mid 20s dudes without knowing your scene/budget.

This. Outside of the game, spend the entire weekend in the Heights.

If you're staying downtown, McIntyre's downtown is a solid spot downtown to drink for mid 20's group that is walking distance.
For a full night out heights or Washington are most popular atm for drinks.

Biggio's is not far from Minute Maid, good place for pregame post game bite and drinks

As someone who lives in Rice Military…the crowds I see on Washington are fricking trash.

Biggio’s is fun before games. 8th Wonder and Truck Yard are also good stops on a nice weekend day.

OP and his pals should make a stop at El Tiempo Washington and go out in the Heights after.

Make a stop at Bayou Heights Beer Garden...then beat feet off Washington.

I live in Rice Military as well and often walk to El Tiempo. It’s gone downhill. We now make the drive to Goode Co TexMex in the Heights - much better quality.

I’ve had a couple of shitty meals at that Goode Co. I’d rather Lupe than that. All in all, I’m a candente man.

Haven’t done Candente yet but everyone raves about it.
