We were there last year. London is very spread out & there’s no real central part of the city. I would stay around Covent Garden to get the most out of your trip, you can walk to a ton sites & attractions.

I second Covent Garden. At least start by looking there. That’s where I stayed when I went and was happy with the decision. However, I’ve only been to London once and can’t offer comparisons.

I like the Southwark area, around London Bridge/Borough Market.

Stay in the Royal National. It is nothing extravagant, but it is centrally located and reasonably priced.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Bayswater right across from Hyde Park. Had a tube entrance connected to my building. Great spot to stay

You should go check out a soccer game. Premier League may be too expensive but there are lower league games for like $10 to $15. There's like 12 professional teams in the top 4 leagues.

Gets you a nice experience with the locals.

I stay at Apex Temple Court and you might consider it as a place to stay where you won't have to move after your business is complete. It is on Fleet street so there is access to Downtown but it is very close to Covent Garden.

I stayed in Kensington the last time I went to London and really enjoyed it. The Tube makes it so easy to get around, just find a nice place near a station and you’ll be good.

You might look into taking part in the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London. It’s on hold for now and it says that they are booked until October but I would keep an eye on the site to see if you can take advantage of a cancellation.

Go to the British Museum; don’t go to the Victoria & Albert museum.

Holiday Inn bought all the tube station overflow parking lots before the last olympics and thus have a lockdown on accomadations with tube access.

Have stayed in several of them and they are all good enough for what I am looking for.

OP just beware if AC is a requirement for you make sure you confirm with wherever you choose to stay it is avalable, it can get warm in Sept and most places do not have it.

Also Sept is my least favorite time to be there, loads of tourist and the kids are out of school, 2020 may be a bit different though.

I was in London in September a few years ago. Was going to a wedding in Belfast. Work cleared a few days early so I changed my ticket and went to London a few days.

No hotel reservation and just a backpack. Took the train in from Heathrow, jumped in a cab, and told him to take me to a hotel in walking distance of most things that would have a room.

He dropped me off at the Doubletree Westminster. A lot of hotels around there. I walked in having traveled for like 18-20 hours straight with just a backpack.

The a-hole at the counter took a look at me and said they were booked up with no rooms. I stepped outside, booked a room online, walked back in and he had to give me a key. It was pretty funny.

CSB aside, it was just me, so that hotel was more than enough and not too expensive. Get up early one morning and jump on the river taxi down to Greenwich.
