Last Minute Late Summer Trip Recs

I threw out to the wifey (no pics) that I’d be down for something for the two of us last minute. Thinking 3 nights Thursday-Sunday in August/September. We did all inclusive last year at Excellence Playa Mujeres and really enjoyed that and would be open to something similar but obviously know the gamble with storms. Got plenty of Chase Points and thinking no more than $2000 total budget. Any good ideas or deals around that time?

As far as trip timing, September is a low travel season. August you'll get all the families trying to get their last vacation in before school starts, but that dies off after labor day.
Leaving from Nola, BR?

When you're going last minute, why not recycle? I'm not a fan of it, but it's what your wife wants cause I know how most men on this board works. Personally, I'd try to stretch to Puerto Rico, but you could do Roatan, Costa Rica, etc.

What do we mean by plenty of chase points? also, do you have a chase sapphire reserve and if so, have you used your annual $300 credit or your edit credits?

If you really have lots of Chase points available (that of course can be transferred to United), then I would personally look at flying on United's flight from Newark to Nuuk, Greenland. Do something really different.
It's a short flight, so three nights there isn't crazy— you haven't flown halfway around the world, only to fly right back. From MSY, you'd only have the one connection in Newark.
Those flights have had very low numbers of passengers, and the only way that they've been working for United has been the very high cash price on the route. But that's meant that there have consistently been lots of award seats available, and United is running that flight until September 23rd this year.
And Nuuk. Is great for a short trip, because it's a small place, and Greenland isn't a country where it's very easy to travel around, because there aren't any roads.

I have the sapphire preferred and I do have the $100 credit that comes with it. I have just under 180,000 points so certainly not an over abundance but enough to keep out of pocket costs down if I go points for flights and stay.

Do you want warm/beach or something a bit cooler? I love Maine and Cape Cod after Labor Day. Easy to get to with the nonstops from MSY-BOS.

You still have a 1 to 1 transfer to hyatt for the next two months. I'd take a look at their all inclusive resorts and see which ones yall like
For example, Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is a resort people like and you can do three nights there for 135k points end of September
