I still go probably once a year but I always stay downtown. The Golden Nugget has everything I need and it’s a lot cheaper than the Strip. And food is still fairly reasonable downtown and a fun atmosphere. I rarely go to The Strip anymore.

Las Vegas tourism decline

I mean, I have only visited Vegas for conventions. The number of people there isn't just about individual tourists. And convention traffic is highly variable. I don't think that one weekend is determinative.

Vegas is fine. Hell, one of my former hooters girls started managing at Encore. She just dealt with her first ruptured penis. She did say the old guys with money get high quality escorts

Been twice this summer and that was my observation too. I know a guy out there who told me that the gambling handle numbers are fine. So their big gamblers may not be deserting them. Don’t really know what the decline narrative is based on. I will also add that everything out there is expensive af. At least the nice places.

Was there this past weekend. Packed as usual. Cosmo Aria and Bellagio were all sold out - and still expensive.

Every time I go to Vegas I come back thinking that a trip to the Beau Rivage is just as enjoyable

If you never leave the casino, sure. If you like entertainment, food, leaving The Strip, going to enjoy outdoors, golf, Lake Mead, Mt Charleston, etc.... then not even close.

Golden Steer is the GOAT. Just saw Wizard of Oz too. Was skeptical going in, but they did an amazing job with it. Well worth it.

Currently in my room at The D as I type this. We've been here since Monday, our fifth visit to Vegas since 2020. Monday-Wednesday definitely the lightest crowds on Fremont I've seen since 2020. The past couple of days it's gotten more crowded, but not like it was just a year ago. We walked the Strip Wednesday early afternoon and it was hot, but man that might have been the least amount of people I've seen out walking. We didn't even get asked for a picture or a show (no complaints). The videos about how devoid Vegas is of travelers tend to be extreme showing dead streets and restaurants. It's nowhere that bad, but to say nothing is different isn't being totally honest.
