This is one of the keys with events like this- take the nonstop.
Yep, I travel a lot. Minimizing risk is critical. I seriously considered fed-exing some bags to keep them out of the airline's hands, but took the plunge. Turns out Frontier takes forever compared to delta at baggage claim.

I'm on AA 3795 from BTR-DFW departing 7:00 PM and arriving 8:35 PM, with a 2:24 connection in DFW to AA 2568 DFW-SAN, departing 10:59 PM and arriving 11:50 PM.
UPDATE: AA has already delayed my first flight until 7:30.
I'm still going to get to San Diego at some point, it seems. My BTR-DFW flight is now scheduled to depart at 8:39 (plane just arrived and is at the gate), but the DFW-SAN flight has been very badly delayed and is now scheduled to depart at 1:02 AM.
Meanwhile, some disappointed people here at the airport waiting to get their bags off baggage claim, after Delta canceled their BTR-ATL flight.

OK Cuse, wife (no pics) is on DL 2842 ATL to PHI on Tuesday and back on DL 1681 Friday. Any chance DAL will have their stuff squared away in the next 45 hours or so?

I see you just took off, looks like you've got a great shot of making the san diego flight. Going to be a long night for you but you'll get there.
Weird thing is, there's a 4:55pm flight thats delayed until 12:41am that you could make AA 1948. I'd probably just stick with your flight however be warned the plane is still stuck in charlotte with some storms going off there. I'd expect some departure delays for it leaving CLT LINK
The 308pm was delayed until 8:30am tomorrow, that's brutal DL 2621

They've had over 1,000+ cancellations a day for 3 days straight. I wouldn't trust flying delta over the next week. You know how many flight crews are out of place? Throw in zero availability for rebooking onto other flights if a flight cancels and now you have crews stuck with no way to get to operate the other flights.
Can your wife book a backup ticket on AA, southwest, or spirit? Is this work related? If so have work rebook her tickets
$140 on Frontier on tuesday, i'd book this immediately
To Philly
Little more coming back on Friday, $237 on spirit To ATL
If you have the means, book the refundable tickets on those airlines and if Delta does get their shite together by then, then you cancel those tickets morning of. When going through TSA, have your wife say "I'm taking frontier" or "I'm taking delta"

It is a work related trip and she does have the means to book the alternatives (company CC). The immediate issue is the absolute lack of rental cars at PHL and none of the companies are answering the phone. She has a 2 hour drive from PHL to her hotel plus a 90 minute daily round trip while in the area. Uber is NOT an option in Amish country.

AA2568 to SAN ended up getting delayed multiple times to 1:40 AM, and then canceled. I was able to quickly rebook on 1948, which at that time was still scheduled to depart at 1:10 AM, though we still haven't closed the plane door yet at 1:45.
They actually reinstated 2568, but then they delayed it to 4:00 AM and then to 8:00 AM. The reason that we are still at the gate is that the gate agents are still trying to get more people from 2568 onto this flight.

My 6am flight was cancelled and rebooked for 6pm, entire business day lost.
I was flying to MSP and connecting in ATL but now have a direct to MSP. Wanted to see if there were any other options, and the app doesn’t even list ATL at all.

We fly out of Venice (VCE) in the morning for Atlanta. Then Atlanta to MSY. I have a feeling we are headed into a shite storm. Friends that were supposed to fly out of Rome on Friday still haven’t made it home

There is a train that runs to PHL. See if she can find a car in one of the suburbs north or west of the city. Kinda a last resort but they likely have cars further away from the airport

Knew you'd be in for a long night, but at least you got on a flight!

Avoid Atlanta like the plague this week

I hope for safe travels for you and that you don't get stuck in ATL. Any issues post here and I can try and find something
I'm guessing you're on the 605pm or the 821pm to msy? The 345pm cancelled so your flight may be oversold

Don’t think they’ll have it cleaned up by Thursday?

Thanks for all the advice. Not saying this just to pick on Delta because I've been through it with other carriers like SW and United too.
Airline loyalty is overrated these days, even if you have highest level status. With all of the booking tools and searches we've transitioned to booking the best flights that serve our needs, and for crucial (mainly family stuff) travel will double book fully refundable tickets. We made our vacation travel Sunday mainly because we were blessed and fortunately, but also due to having a back-up plan.
People make fun of low-cost carriers like Spirit and the such, but in the end whether you sit in 1st or in the middle back row seat its a flight to get your somewhere you need to go.

I have no clue, with another 600+ cancellations today and potential thunderstorms this week it may still be bad

This is the way to go. Book two tickets that are refundable and if one of them cancels then you go with the other one. There is no issue with booking multiple flights on different airlines, you just cannot do it for the same airline

So far, Southwest hasn't really been affected by this right? Supposed to fly out of MSY tomorrow, and return Sunday
