Obstinate Daughter over on Sullivan's Island just a couple of minutes away from where you are is universally considered the best restaurant in the area.

For Charleston there are multiple threads you can pull up but I'm happy to answer any specific questions that aren't covered in those.

For IOP specifically:

The beach, obviously
Islander 71 - good food, great vibes, awesome sunset and intracoastal views
The Dinghy - my favorite place on the island; divey beach bar with live music starting around 3:30 (see if you can find the Charleston Packer Backer stickers I've placed there)
Windjammer - great views of the beach and some really solid live music (much of it is ticketed)
Acme Lowcountry Kitchen - really good brunch and they were one of the few spots that actually uses local shrimp
Coda Del Pesce - Really good Italian food overlooking the beach
The Boathouse at Breach Inlet - Decent food but really good views

I think Sullivans Island has been covered pretty well previously (Poe's, Obstinate, Home Team, High Thyme, etc); the drive from IOP to Sullivan's there is pretty...don't drive off the road gawking at the houses.

ETA: Johns Island is a HIKE from Isle of Palms, especially from Wild Dunes

If you have kids, the aquarium is neat.

+1

Windjammer is more of a party atmosphere, not really for dining. But it's a great beach bar vibe.

Acme is my favorite restaurant on IOP.

Have fun with the parking shite show on the Island. Wild Dunes HOA doesn't allow golf cart rentals for guests, only owners. So you'll have to drive anywhere you go.

I will also +1 the Sullivan's Island recommendations.

Make sure to check out the Patriot's Point USS Yorktown. Go early, it gets hot in June and there's no AC on the aircraft carrier.

Whenever in the Charleston area, we always get a horse drawn tour through downtown. You can't have open containers like Nola or Savanna, so bring a yeti tumbler with a beverage.

I'm going to throw in Shem Creek. Very scenic, huge boardwalk through the marsh along the creek. All the restaurants are good, just pick your vibe. I like Vickery's.

I usually only recommend Shem Creek for drinks or maybe a happy hour bite. Vickery's is ok, tavern and table is decent (their shrimp and grits is good), Red's is good for some happy hour bites, I haven't been to the wreck yet but heard it's your standard fried/broiled seafood place. Saltwater Cowboys is average at best. Sunsets is pretty good and has great views.

For my money I'm saving the big meals for some of the better places already mentioned.

I'm on a senior citizen schedule, what a young whipper snapper like yourself calls Happy Hour, our family calls Dinner Time.

Ha, fair. I will say that Red’s has a good happy hour menu. The calamari is good and a good deal, cheap beer. Muddy’s happy hour deals are good too.
