LAX is undergoing multiple large redevelopment projects.
JFK is about to start.
ORD is going to tear down terminals 1&2, and replace them- gonna be a mess for years. Terminal 5 is currently being expanded and Delta is relocating there this year.
PHL has a inefficient runway configuration
CLT has overgrown it's capacity by a mile and is crowded.
BOS has spaghetti runways and aged terminals with the exception of Delta's.
MIA has grown too big for its britches in the last couple of years and improvements are many years away.
IAH is building a new Leland International Terminal and terminal redevelopment has begun.
Time is ticking for MSP improvements
SEA has outgrown its capacity as well and need more room, but there isn't any.

Denver was the last major airport built in the United States. Opened in 1994.

O'Hare, Newark, Dulles, Denver if you want your luggage to make it to the next stop.

STL apparently is building a brand new airport.

Detroit
The delta terminal in Detroit is anything but terrible.

Other side of DTW doesn't look that bad either (haven't been in it and I don't know anyone who has). Photospheres remind me of Birmingham- pretty clean and modern, but not a whole lot going on.
I do see how it could be a pain in the arse if you fly in to Detroit on a different airline to fly internationally. Idk why anyone would do this, but it would basically be like connecting at an entirely different airport. That's the only potential downside of DTW that I can see. Not sure if anyone saying Detroit has actually been there- seems like they're just listing shithole cities regardless of airport. Baltimore isn't terrible either but admittedly gets overly crowded

LAX says hold my beer. It’s, by far, the worst airport I’ve ever experienced. Memphis is a close second.
