Most don’t have AC

No. I've lived in Europe for 5 years without AC. No worries. If there is a heat wave while you are there, it won't be fun, but that is hard to predict.

Agree, though OP might look for one that clearly states that a fan is provided.

Last year I was in Italy and it was hot

Is the summer climate in France much different?

I was in London in mid-June last year. When we booked an airbnb, I insisted that we didn't need A/C, but was outvoted and we ended up paying more for a place with A/C.

All I can say is thank God no one listened to me, because we happened to go during a major heat wave, and it would have been miserable trying to sleep at night.

That being said, typically the answer would be NO.

So basically, it's a risk/reward evaluation you have to make. Are you willing to pay a bit more just in case, or are you willing to risk it and hope that it's a mild summer.

Yes, it's usually quite a bit cooler in Paris/northern France than in most of Italy.
ETA: the distance between Paris and Florence is around the same as the distance between Chicago and New Orleans.

I’ve been living nearby for awhile now. Nah you don’t need it unless it’s a “heatwave”

Yes! I’m here now and my hotel room was Uncomfortably warm the past two nights. I thought I could do without but I’m just not use to sleeping well without the luxury of AC. I’m staying at a Marriott that actually has AC so I made good use of it. The past two days was very warm here. The temperature dropped today so maybe a crack in the window would actually work. I wouldn’t risk being miserable in the summer tho.

When I worked in Europe, it maybe reached 33° in the summer - max! What’s the big deal???

But seriously, it depends on who’s traveling. If an important female in your life is involved, get AC. If it’s just a group of guys, make sure there are fans and you’ll be fine.

Time in the room should be minimal anyway. Have some wine and pass out at night. Open the windows and enjoy the sounds of the city. Get your butt out of bed early and rub elbows with the locals.

How much is the price difference and how long are you going? I'd absolutely pay 20-30 euros a night for it for 4-5 nights.

Its a vacation. I can sleep fine without AC but my wife can't. But this is vacation, a time for you to relax and enjoy it. I wouldn't risk it honestly.

I would get it. We were there last April and I was miserable because it was warm in our flat...and it had "AC" - just a really sucky version of it.

If you don't mind sleeping in a warm room, then you'll be fine. If you like a cold room, then you will want it.

My place (no a/c) doesn’t get over 76F even with the warmer weather. I guess it’s a matter of preference. If you are uncomfortable with anything above 70F, then yes you will need it

Yep, Most of the A/Ca suck anyway

I lived in London for a summer with no A/C, and I sleep with my house on 68* Lotta drinking, cold showers, and sleeping naked

Paris Is usually pretty mild. South of France can get hot to be honest. Maybe not really hot, but without A/C you definitely notice it. It made nights for me pretty uncomfortable. I understand now why my fiancée has a habit of always walking around the house naked.
