Anyone have any insight on if the premium economy is worth it? I’m flying to Thailand and for 2 tickets round trip on economy it’s $1,500ish and for premium it’s $2,500ish.

Never flown international so trying to determine if the extra is worth it? All I can see is premium has slightly more room but isn’t the seat space on international flights more than domestic anyway?

I've flown and just chosen a row with the escape door, always a couple more inches

I like it at least on the trip over. More space, recline and better service. Basically treated as first class without the bed and less wine and food choices. I find it to be a good value. First class price premium is too high for me. I would rather spend that extra money on the rest of my vacation.

Just make sure exit seats are available at purchase and you will be fine. First class not worth it imho.

Depends on the quality of cabin. Are we talking a few inches of leg room or a footrest setup?

Another thing is most setups have fixed arm rest. If your like to lean on your travel companion as you sleep, you may find it inconvenient.

Book via tripmasters. Price will be cheaper than flights alone. Profit

It looks like it would be between EVA/Qatar ($1500-1700) on economy and American Airlines ($2500).

All flights seem to use the Boeing 777-300er

I’m sitting in AA premium economy as I type this. They are definitely worth the extra $ IMO. They’re very similar to what business class seats used to be before they became mini suites with walls.

I'm surprised you couldn't find something into Bangkok in economy for 600-800 dollars.

How tall are you? I'm 6'2" and there's no way I'm not flyingin at least premium economy on a long haul flight.

I also wouldn't do an exit row like tduecen because there's no way in hell I'm sitting in a non-reclining seat for a long flight.

The prices I’m listing is for 2 passengers so they’re 750ish each.

I thought the exit row reclines it's the seats before the exit row that don't?

Definitely. Do it immediately. Don't wait. Prices can jack up overnight. (At least on British Air.)

I flew to Thailand RT from LAX in economy last year for $488. So about $750 starting in MSY with a short layover in Beijing. Honestly, unless you have some kind of health issue, or can spring for first class ( out of my league ) I don’t see spending the extra grand on premium economy. I flew China Southern and it was delightful, comfortable, food was good, movie selections adequate. Premium didn’t seem worth the bump, especially with an extra $1000 going so far in Thailand.

I like using miles to fly business class when possible, but I also flew IAH-SYD (17-hour flight) last year in economy and had a great flight.

Sometimes, it's hard to tell in advance if a better seat is going to be worth it. I'll never forget the time that I had a super-comfortable seat flying DOH-PHL flight in Qatar biz, and there was a family in the next row with a newborn and twin 3-year-olds, and was literally constant crying the entire flight and I got zero sleep and was miserable.

As to your original question, I think that the price difference there is about right. Up to you if it's worth it.

I'm leaning this way. Can use the extra 100,000 points to book a couple nights at an awesome place over in Thailand.

Initially I looked at business, having never flown it and not knowing what to expect, and it was like 10K for 2 so that was immediately out
