Hikes, vacation spots, really anything you can think of.

Wanting to go to the Grand Canyon but have never been and need to do my research.

We did a weekend in Sedona and it was amazing.

Age 27 if it helps

GC: drive up 89A and come into the Park on the east side at Desert View. Less crowded, great views, and then you can drive along the south rim to the main visitors’ center.

Go to Williams, Az and take the train to the Grand Canyon.
It can be a day trip or stay over.

Go to Lolo's Chicken and Waffles, Over Easy and Paradise Valley Burger Company to eat.

Go to the Payson Rodeo 8/20 - 8/22

Drive Apache Junction to Roosevelt Lake

Go to an Arizona and Arizona football game

Day trip to Prescott

Go swim at Grasshopper Point in Oak Creek Canyon and Bull Pen in Camp Verda. Lots of good swim spots around Scottsdale

Here's a list of roadside attractions in Arizona if you're in to that kind of stuff:

Been years since I've been but a couple of hotels were places locals went for a weekend to "getaway".

Those hotels had pool parties with a DJ etc.

Tons of sluts. I encourage you to go.

I stayed at the Hotel Valley Ho....they had a party on Saturdays.

Valley Ho was the spot 10+ years ago, now there are several pool options that are more hip/Vegas.

Valley Ho cabana room on 4th of July is probably still a solid option if OP is bringing sand to the beach. Pool party all day, happy hour and a few bars in old town, then hit the rooftop at the Ho for fireworks with a 360° view of the valley.

I figured it changed. Especially in a place as artificial as Scottsdale.

If you don’t have hours but would like good view of the valley I’d drive up south mountain. Beautiful full view of valley/Phoenix. Across from Scottsdale kind of. From bottom top is probably 20-25 min drive depending on traffic.

Usually can sit and watch guys jump off the top and glide down.

Hike of the west fork trail of oak creek canyon on Sedona.
Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe bend up near Page.
Monument valley up on the utah border.
Chiricahua national monument is a great hiking area.
Visiting the old mining town of Jerome and doing some wine tasting in the wineries around the town of Cottonwood is a nice day trip.
Tombstone and the old mining town of bisbee are options in the southeast corner.
As someone else mentioned the Heard museum is neat and depending on what time of year you visit the botanical gardens can either be a solid visit or can't miss.
The area around the white mountains is gorgeous and has lots of camping and outdoor stuff to do.
Since you are there for 4 months maybe check out Tortilla Flats and go for a paddle boat ride as well.

La Grande Orange and Il Bosco have great pizza (there are a crapload of great pizza places in the phoenix area, those are just a couple of my favs in Scottsdale). As mentioned PV burger company is a great burger joint with unique burgers. Persian room, the green corner, and Eden's grill are good greek/middle eastern. Definitely go to one of the Cornish Pasty Company restaurants at some point, they are great places to grab a beer and get some unique and very tasty food. Habanero's is solid mexican for lunch, Los reyes de torta down on 7th st is an awesome hole the wall Mexican place. I'm a fan of Otro Cafe downtown for Mexican as well. If you want some good breakfast Butterfield's pancake house is great.

ETA: Kartchners caverns is also great if you like caves.

Taliesin West (Frank Lloyd Wright’s Studio) is located in Scottsdale.

It’s COVID-closed but if it reopens, it’s a must-see in the area.

For personal nostalgic reasons I'd pick Valley Ho over the others, and for people in general I'd recommend it because it is a historical property with an authenticity that is lacking at many venues in Old Town Scottsdale.

Probably doesn't have the trashy/IG Vegas vibe if that is what one desires (and nothing wrong with that) but still a great spot to go chill and enjoy some sun, music, and cocktails. Especially if you already have a woman with you.

i noticed that nobody else mentioned the mogollon rim or white mountains, and was going to recommend it.

and then i thought, there are enough people from the valley and tucson ruining those places, no need to send out of towners too :-P

but seriously OP, there are some incredible hikes, streams, creeks, and lakes atop the rim and along fr300 and below the rim. and a big loop of 260, 273, and up 191 in the white mountains will put you in some incredible country.

i wouldn't worry. even kids are supposed to be back in school by then.

i don't know if the spike was due to an increase in testing (what the governor says) or if it was truly a spike in cases.

maricopa county has the most total cases, but per capita the number is pretty low especially compared to navajo, apache, coconino and yuma counties. and a LOT, if not the vast majority of our deaths are from the reservations and from nursing homes.
