Beach trips should basically be free except for gas, a place to stay, and alcohol. If I'm going to spend money to go out of the country I'm not hanging out an an all inclusive resort all week. Just as soon go to Florida at that point

I think the most we have spent on a vacation was about $12,000. That was three days in Rome, one day in Florence, a 12 day Adriatic cruise, round trip airfare, ship excursions, food, shopping, etc., etc. Great trip.

Just spent 15 k on a Disney trip . 4 adults and 2 kids , roundtrip from new Orleans to Orlando . 4 nights and 3 days at Disney . Great meals and the kids had a blast . Next time I'm going to six flags . It was alot on this old man .

On Tuesday, I'm going to Grand Palladium White Sands in Playa del Carmen for four nights.
Resort cost = 30k Wyndham Rewards points per night x 4 = 120k points (the resort would be $418 per night if paying cash)
Flight MSY-CUN = 10k Aeroplan miles (transferred from Amex) to fly United, + $89.50 in taxes and fees.
Return CUN-MSY = 4900 Southwest points + $58
So, that's what I'm willing to pay. There is a cost to acquire the miles and points, of course, but it's much less than paying cash for my travel.

I think for a week trip, the most I will spend is $3-4k. Wife and I have done it twice and I certainly wouldn't do it with my kids (4 & 7).
For them, we can go to Florida or Colorado, stay with family or friends or rent an AirBNB and cook at the place for $2k or less.
I did Europe in 2014 for 57 days out of college for $4,400.
