Carry on for every trip. It’s not difficult to do unless you’re going to a winter destination.

I pack way more than I should
. Although having the Delta card allows me to do the free bag

Weekend trip driving - I have a Filson duffel bag that holds most everything I need.
Longer trip driving - Most everything fits in my large suitcase. Occasionally I need a second bag if I'm bringing more than a couple pairs of shoes.
Flying - it really depends. I don't mind checking a bag, but if it's just a short trip and I can fit everything into a carry on, I do that.

I try at all costs to avoid checking bags. The only time I really need to do that is if we go on a ski trip with the family, you just have so much shite they won’t fit into the overhead bin. For business or quick getaways, always carry-on. I don’t have to have a few doesn’t outfits for every little occasion. So I am OK what are you wearing a T-shirt or a pair of shorts, I typically don’t vacation in spots that are a fashion show. I have course bring a fresh pair of undies for every day

I open a second savings account. If my debit card gets lost, I transfer money the other account online and keep on having a good time.
This is a good idea...if I were traveling alone and not w/spouse who has separate card w/access to other accounts, I would definitely do this.
I do carry two credit cards--one on my person, and the other one hidden away in my luggage. Both have high limits in case the SHTF and I need to buy a walk-up ticket home, pay for medical care, etc.

For a normal trip, if it’s doesnt fit in 40L, it doesn’t get to come.

Last trip overseas I put my carry on luggage in my checked bag and boarded with only my booksack. Was so nice to not have to carry anything.

Always over pack. 4 days or less I’ll bring a carryon. Anything over I’m checking.

This was a crazy bump after almost a year. In 2019, I was in the air over 30 times.
I used a Mystery Ranch Wheelie and a Mystery Ranch Urban Assault 21L backpack. The only checked bag was when I forgot some rum from the Bacardi Distillery in San Juan and had to use the Wheelie to house it for the trip back to Louisiana.
They’ve been fantastic travel companions for both air and road. Incredibly durable and amazingly packable. With only a few exceptions, I’ve flown Delta almost exclusively. Their one bag+personal item is fantastic.
I typically roll all of my clothes, only seldomly utilize packing cubes, and separate out base layers (socks, undies, undershirts & belts) in the backpack a change of shoes, my laptop, planner, tablet and headphone case. My Dopp kit goes in the Wheelie.
I’d like to think I’ve become a bit of a pro.
