Hotel in AC Out-what to ask for

All,
I am currently staying at Le Meridian in Rome.
Last night we were at a restaurant near the Trevi Fountain and we lost all electricity in the restaurant during supper.
We came back to the hotel and the AC did not work- it eventually came back on at 3AM this morning.
It ran until about 11:00 AM today and has been off again ever since.
We asked to be moved to a different property and they said we’d need to contact Bonvoy directly, when we did, they said we would need to work with the hotel.
After thinking about it, it would be a PITA to move across town because in addition to moving our stuff, we would have to contact the tour guides and transportation to let them know we have moved.
What should I ask for as compensation for having 2 days without AC in my hotel room?

Heck yes you should ask for that.

Try to speak with the manager on checkout. If they aren't cooperative, work with Marriott when you return. They can usually work their magic with the property or their own customer support line.
Be polite, but firm, and don't settle for something like a free drink in the hotel bar for this. Comping the room night, or the points equivalent, would be satisfactory, IMO.

Went to Iceland a couple weeks ago. They don’t even have AC. You just open the window in your hotel room at night. It doesn’t get that hot there, but still. One hotel had a small table top type fan that was nice though.

What level status are you?

Did they lose electricity a second time?
Sounds like the first time, it wasn't their fault, if the entire area lost electricity.
If they have electricity and no AC, I'd ask for a fan.

Very relevant to the OP's issue!

This. If you very frequently stay with them I’d expect some free room vouchers or points or whatever. If not and it was a power outage I wouldn’t expect much. Not sure what all the hotel can do? It’s not their fault I mean.

They should comp you for those rooms nights.

Lol, why? His restaurant lost power too, so should the restaurant give away free food? One utility goes down and everything is free!
If he is a platinum or whatever very routine member then sure they will probably give him points worth back. But if he never stays at Marriott?
But the whole idea that something out of the business's control goes wrong means completely free shite is a ridiculous concept.

Maybe
A comp night is standard though.

Asked nicely for the room nights without AC to be comped at check out and they did it for me without any hesitation.
Thanks for the advice and guidance and I hope no one has to do a European heat wave without AC!

Hotel like this should have backup power. This is one of the reasons you pay a premium for an American chain hotel vs. the local boutique in Europe.

I’ve been in a restaurant when they lost power. We offered to return and pay at a later date. They declined the offer.
