Going to Vegas at the beginning of September, looking to spend a day out of the city hiking. I'm thinking of doing Valley of Fire, but want to know if they're might be some other options that are as good or better. TIA!

We went to Red Rock canyon and did some cycling but they have awesome hiking trails. The place is really amazing! We also went to Lee Canyon/Mt. Charleston but it was February and it was covered in snow but I assume it would be great hiking. We biked the river mountain loop trail along Lake Mead and from what I remember there were good hiking trails there also. You have plenty of options!!

Lots of good hiking in and around Pahrump also, and in the Spring Mountains. Easily accessible, Pahrump is only an hour west of Las Vegas...

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm thinking Mt. Charleston now. What are the best trails? Is the shortest trail to the peak the 16 mile in and out?

Wife and I did Hoover Dam early then back tracked to Red Rocks, it was a lot of fun. Wish I would have spent more time in Red Rocks. Very picturesque with solid trails.

There's a really awesome natural hot tub east of the Hoover Dam. There's a random little parking lot and trail that leads down to the river...it's up one of the canyons down there. Sketchy as hell, but awesome none the less.

I just researched it, it's called Ringbolt Hot Spring.

The trail is beautiful down by the river too.

Red Rock and Valley of Fire are the two most scenic, but will be hot. Mt. Charleston is the nicest temperature wise.

The hot springs is cool, but a long drive from Vegas.

Red Rock Canyon. Just did it. Awesome hiking trails. $15/car. Rented a car on the strip for $50 for the day.

I've been to Red Rock Canyon and greatly enjoyed it. My father has been to both Red Rock and Valley of Fire and prefers Valley of Fire.
