My wife and I (26 and 30) are looking to go to Vegas for a 5 day trip this summer. We are just looking for tips and info, as neither of us have been there before.

We already kind of have an idea on flights and rooms, so that's not an issue...more looking for entertainment and things to do. Neither of us are big drinkers or partiers, so bars, breweries, and night life isn't something we really need. We plan to gamble a little, maybe 1 or 2 nights, but not a ton. We are more looking for things to do during the day. Some things that she found online that are possibilities (kind of looking for reviews if any of you have been/done these:

- Emerald Cave Kayak Tour
- Hoover Dam
- Adrenaline Mountain Shooting Experience
- Hershey's Chocolate World
- Reef Aquarium
- Hockey game

We are still looking for me things to do that interest us, besides the obvious casinos and such.

Any particular food/restaurants that are "must try" type of things? We haven't looked into this too much yet.

Best method of transportation for somebody who flew in?

Thanks in advance!

Dune buggy rental
Helicopter tour of Grand canyon and hoover dam
Lake Mead
Hot Springs hikes
World's Largest Gold Nugget
The Linq (World's Largest Ferris Wheel currently)

Uber from airport. Most of the larger attractions offsite will pick you up at your airport. Hoover dam self tour might be a stretch though.

If you can handle raunchy comedy, go see Absinthe at Caesar’s and/or Atomic at The Venetian. Best shows on the strip.

M&Ms World is great.
Day hike at Red Rock Canyon

Eggslut and Zuma at Cosmo
Eataly at Park MGM
Tao at Venetian
Rivera at The Delano for the view

There's certainly "other stuff" to do in Vegas, but if you don't plan on gambling, partying, or catching some shows, there are better places to go than Vegas. Sounds like y'all enjoy outdoor activities. Why not spend a night or two in Vegas and spend the rest of the trip taking in the Grand Canyon?

Cosmopolitan, Wynn, The Venetian/Palazzo, Bellagio for walking around

Everything is further away than it seems. Wear comfortable shoes. There’s also a tram that runs across the back side of some of the casinos that can be useful.

Food
Sushi Samba (Palazzo)
Grimaldi pizza(palazzo)
Holsteins shakes & buns for burgers(Cosmo)
Egg slut(Cosmo)
Bavette’s steakhouse (ParkMGM)

Cirque shows

Other shows
Absinthe
There’s are two major comedy clubs
The Cellar LV

Things to do
Day trip to Red Rock or Valley of Fire. You can rent a car and drop off at the casinos
The old strip Downtown
There’s a dolphin encounter at one of the casinos
House of blues at the top of the Mandalay Bay is a great spot to get full view of the strip at night and take some pics.

Whatever you do, make your rental car a convertible. Driving through the desert and the strip with the top down is great.

Day trip to grand canyon. They have bus trips that leave from the casinos. We really liked Cirque du Soleil and also, my SO being a foodie, went to the restaurant of one of our favorite celebrity chefs. He was actually there, so it was really cool. Really expensive so it was more paying for the experience than getting our money’s worth for the food.

My standard list for first time visitors, plus a little extra since y'all aren't big gamblers. Some of these probably aren't your cup of tea.

Things to do on your first trip to Vegas

1. Walk the Strip. Pop into casinos and look around. Drop a $20 in slots all along the way. Sign up for their players cards.
2. Have drinks in a cool bar. Relax and people watch! I love the Chandelier Bar at the Cosmo, Petrossian at the Bellagio, Rhumbar at Mirage, The Overlook Lounge at the Wynn (used to be Parasol Up).
3. See Vegas from up high. There’s lot of options. High Roller, Foundation Room, The Palms, Voodoo Lounge, 107 Sky Lounge. I like the 107 on top of the Stratosphere. Hit it up in the late afternoon for happy hour on the way to Fremont Street.
4. Fremont Street. See the old hotels and pop into some places for a little cheaper table games or better odds. The El Cortez is sort of a dive, but it’s got great blackjack rules. See the Golden Nugget, the 4 Queens, Binions, etc. and all that neon and flash. If you’ve been to Bourbon St., Fremont is sort of similar.
5. See a show. It could be a Cirque extravaganza, a concert, a play/musical, a tribute show. Just pick what you like.
6. Make a reservation and have a really nice dinner. Options abound. Don’t do your dinner the night you do the show. That way, you’re not rushed.
7. If it’s summer, have a pool day.
8. See the Bellagio Fountains and Conservatory.

Added specially for you:

Valley of Fire or Red Rock Canyon both have hiking trails. So does Mt. Charleston. Mt Charleston would be cooler in the summer heat. Valley of Fire is pretty spectacular, but in the summer it's best to get there near sunrise to see the colors and beat the heat. Buy a cheap cooler at Walgreens or Walmart and bring TONS of water. You're in the desert. At Valley of Fire, I can literally feel the moisture being sucked out of my lips, it's so dry.

I've heard the Emerald Caves kayak tour is pretty cool. It's something I've wanted to do, but the timing was never right. Combine it with seeing Hoover Dam, because it doesn't take a lot of time to see the dam unless you do a tour.

I know people that have really enjoyed the dune buggy tour as well.

I agree with the poster that says spend a couple of days in Vegas and then go elsewhere. In addition to the Grand Canyon, it's also about 2.5 hours from Zion National Park.

definitely the linq ferris wheel. takes about 30 minutes to do. grab a few beers at the bar before you jump on.

outside of the linq is a cool strip of bars and restaurants that is worth checking out. there's an ice bar for a unique experience.

i love mon ami gabi (paris casino). request a table next to the window so you can watch the fountains at the bellagio. get the baked goat cheese appetizer.

for something different take a trip to Capo's speakeasy. knock on the back door and wait. really cool experience with a lounge singer singing sinatra and close up magic guy who comes to your table. meatballs are great.

i love hanging at the beer park (front of the paris). great place to hang out with good weather. nice tap list too.

it was cheaper to take a cab than uber. there's a line outside the airport that moves quickly. they've got it down to a science.

5 days is too long in Vegas and that is if you are a drinker, party person and gambler. If you aren't, there are a million places better to go than here.

I say here because I am in LV for work right now. I come two or three times a year for many years. People have the impression you can pull off a cheap vacation here. You can NOT. I paid $11.50 for a bottled beer last night. Grabbed a really crappy chicken sandwich tonight for $19. Had a great steak the night before for $87 and that was at an off strip steakhouse. Inflation has hit LV hard.

I actually love this town but I am taking it off the vacation list until prices stabilize.

We allowed one day for the Strip, a day for Fremont, a day for "other stuff," and the last day for leftovers. Grand Canyon is a great daytrip. (Rent a car, the bus tours are excruciating. Get a jeep tour at the canyon.) There are little gems in each of the Strip hotels - pick your fave. The Bellagio fountains is a great example. Lots of walking and redlights. You WON'T see all the biggies in one day.

Fremont Street is old Vegas. Bourbon Street without the smell. Agree with dipping into those old hotels like Binions and El Cortez for the vibe. 1/2 block away is the Container Park which is worth a quick meal and a look see. The Mob Museum is also a short walk.

We drove through Red Rocks and Valley Of Fire. Great drive!

Other Stuff:
--Ethel Ms Choc Factory in Henderson
--Neon Boneyard All those old glitzy neon signs from Old Vegas now rest there.
--The Vegas Monorail moves you between a couple of locations on the East Side of the strip. But know going in that it is a LONG walk through those buildings to get from front to back where the monorail is. REALLY long.
--The Deuce bus. Takes you up and down the strip, and even between the strip and Fremont. MUCH cheaper than a taxi, but it takes forever.
--Great breakfast place off the strip is Mr Mommas. Usually no wait and not paying Strip prices.
--Not generally known, but there is free parking at the Venetian and The Palazzo. Tiny signage at the back of those mega-casinos. It's meant for hotels and day shoppers.
