I’d advise against renting a car in Santorini. You can get around by taxi, drivers hired by hotel, etc… and will be much less stressful than driving.
Had really solid long lunch at Aktaion on Santorini. Spent a lot of time walking around and looking at the view.

I would home base on Santorini. Up at Oia if budget is know issue. Take the ferry to Athens, Mykonos,Crete and others . Just show up the good times find you there.

I opted against staying in Oia and stayed at Istoria on Perissa beach. Top notch. Away from the tourist crowd but still plenty of beach bars etc.
-look at Hectors cave house on Airbnb. Usually booked up all year but worth looking at.
-if I’m not staying in Oia I’m definitely renting a car. The smallest car you can rent btw
- Amoudi bay is awesome. Amoudi fish tavern is great food.
-can spend quite a bit of time in Oia just walking around. A lot of things to see/do/eat.
-visit the wineries.
-red beach and black beach are both cool to see
-Akrotiri was a really cool archaeological site. They were actively digging still while I was there.
-although not on the beach or anything, Metaxy Mas was my favorite restaurant
-May have been mentioned already but check out Santorini Dave online. He hits all the key points.
It’s really just a fun beautiful place

Thanks for the Santorini Dave site. Very informative.
What's the thoughts on this? I really don't want to fly into and out of Athens. The flights in/out of Santorini are also not ideal. Thinking now of doing MSY - Paris. 5 star dinner that night and quick walk around the city. Direct flight from Paris to Santorini the next day. Stay in Santorini 3 days. Ferrry to Myokonos (stay 2-3 days). Ferry to Athens (stay 2 days), and fly out.

Seems like a solid plan.

Definitely Rhodes, Oui more so than Fira

Solid plan. I'm thinking of something similar myself. Except I really want a couple of nights in Paros or Naxos instead of Mykonos which doesn't interest me at all.

Sounds like a lot of fun.
-in Athens, check out Brettos (oldest bar in Athens). Drink some ouzo. Check out all the colored bottles on the wall.
-also check out Little Kook in Athens. It has all kinds of random fairytale garb on the front of it. Pretty cool.

Highly recommend Naxos. Sleepy island with some cool areas to explore. Several great beaches and towns to hit. People are awesome.
Mykonos is the definition of nightlife. Has high end dining and shopping, but clubs and bars will be popping late into the night. As mentioned, Mykonos will compete with Santorini for most crowded and most expensive.

I’m going to Greece next month for my honeymoon. We’re doing Athens (1 day), Mykonos (3 days), and Santorini (3 days).
In Santorini, we’re staying in Imerovigli. Can’t find too much on Imerovigli other than it is really quiet, which is good for us. Has anyone stayed there? Have any good recommendations? TIA. I’m super pumped.

Just got back from Greece. NOLA has a direct flight to London and then London has a direct flight to Santorini. I’d advise that over Paris.
Nola —> London —> Santorini —> Mykonos —> Athens —> Nola
We stayed in Fira in Santorini. It’s right in the center and has tons of shopping and restaurants. We did a day in Oia for pictures and a sunset dinner. All there is to do up there anyways. Fira Has the main bus station ($2 to get anywhere on the island and nice tour buses). The taxis/Ubers are a minimum $34 to get anywhere on the island. Would not advise doing that. No need for a rental care. Buses take you everywhere.
I’d go late May. Really wasn’t overly crowded and weather was quite nice. The locals said it gets wild in mid June to September
Also multiple Ferry’s every day going to all the islands. Can decide when and where you want to go the day of if you want. Definitely not something you have to freak out in advance like a previous poster stated. Also sea hopper plans that are relatively cheap

We did 3 nights and Naxos and 3 nights in Paros. Rented cars on both those islands. Would recommend

My wife and I are looking at doing a very similar trip in late May of next year. We will have a total of 8 nights, looking at 6 nights between Santorini and Naxos, and then the final night or 2 in Athens to fly home.
