Starting to organize my next trip over to the states next year and Im looking at doing a bit of driving around the South (texas Louisiana florida). I was looking at a stop somewhere between Baton Rouge and Florida and noticed the gulf shores in bama. Would any recommend visiting here for a couple in their mid 20s? If so how many days would be suitable? best area to stay? and is there any nightlife atmosphere or is thisa family vacation spot?

Stay in Orange Beach just up the road. Experience true Americana at FloraBama.

Drive an extra 45 minutes and stay in Pensacola. Much nicer on many levels

I remember when Gulf Shores was a quiet little beach town that most went to in order to avoid the Fla crowds.
Instead, Gulf Shores put up a condo on every piece of beach they could find.
It's miserable!

Depends on OP's trip timing, but you could also stop at Buc-ee's when you exit Baldwin Beach Express next year too!

I find it quicker to get to P'cola Beach than Perdido Key Beach; but, not during high summer.

How far are you going in Florida? The best beaches IMO are on 30A which is about an hour or so after you cross into Florida. If you want the real "Redneck Riviera" feel, Orannge Beach is great, but Seaside on 30A can't be beat as far as water clarity, scenery and people.

to be fair, the water in GS/OB has been very clear this year

Was there in June and I think it was the clearest I've ever seen it down there.
