Recently, I made a post asking for the best walking cities with great stuff to do within walking distance. I got a lot of good recommendations that I plan on using later. But one of the cities that caught me off guard was Greenville, SC.

Booked a Greenville Hampton Inn next to the creek for this weekend. So for all you Greenville pros, what should we do? I've done some looking and yes, it looks really good food and entertainment wise. But I trust real people over a fake google review. Any got to go to food places? Taking suggestions for sights as well. We'll be there Friday and leaving Monday.

I left there in 2002-ish, but Greenville was one of the best places I've ever lived to just go hike for a few hours. You can go west of town for female friendly hills. You can go east towards the Appalachians for things that will make your wife/GF dislike you, but will not kill decent men. It doesn't sound like you have time for that.

Head north west of town just past Furman, and just love the scenery and the mild hiking. Retire to downtown Greenville for beers and a pizza.

We took the Segway tour last year. No experience needed. They teach you to ride in about 30 minutes, then you head off around the area to explore with a guide.

Unity Park area was impressive as hell. Great park with trails, etc., and several food/drink options in a big building.

Went to a couple of minor league baseball games, as season was underway when we were there. Great stadium and atmosphere, and walkable from downtown. Upcountry History Museum was nice, with a SC music museum nearby.

Grand Bohemian Lodge is right on the river downtown. Worth stopping in for a drink, meal, or just to visit and enjoy the views from their balconies over the falls.

Had good meals at Coral seafood restaurant and Lazy Goat.

Drive up to see the Poinsett Bridge about 20 minutes north of town for a nice “mild hiking” excursion.

I liked the Trappe Door (Belgian food) downtown for dinner.

Lovely area all around.

If this is the one downtown along the river / Swamp Rabbit Trail, it's a very nice Hampton Inn - fantastic location. Walk the trail to Southernside Brewing for a great patio.

We really enjoyed cocktails at Swordfish Cocktail Club and Vault & Vator. Trappe Door was very fun - good food, beer and crowd. CAMP was also a good dinner experience. They have a pretty extensive menu of coursed items.

I went to Greenville on business about 15 years ago and was pleasantly surprised at the wide scope of dinning and entertainment options available. The downtown area was very safe and clean compared to similar sized cities in Georgia like Macon and Savannah. If I ever move back to the States permanently, Greenville will definitely be in the upper reaches of my list of permanent perches. The only bad thing I have to say about Greenville is that the Braves no longer have their AA farm team there, but that's not Greenville's fault.

I live here. Just north of town past Furman near Paris Mtn State Park. You’re in a great spot. Halls chop house has phenomenal steaks and a great bar area. Jianna’s across the street has great Italian food and hand made pasta. Up on the roof (rooftop bar in your hotel is good depending on weather). The Grand Bohemian hotel has good food and bar areas. Trappe Door is really good. There are also tons of spots on Main Street you can pop in and try something. Mac’s speed shop has amazing wings and good vibe.
Downtown travelers rest has some good spots as well. Chicora Ally (amazing neighborhood local bar/restaurant vibe) for brunch is really good. Their shrimp and goat cheese quesadilla is ungodly. Their brussel sprouts too.
I’m from La and have lived all over the country after college. I moved here for work 5 years ago. Met my wife, bought some land, and built a house. We love it. Best place I’ve ever lived.

Chicora alley is also downtown. Tons of great suggestions here. Sobys is good and I think the best place in an old downtown is The Anchorage

Methodical coffee is my favorite coffee spot.

You could walk the swamp rabbit trail up to the swamp rabbit cafe for lunch one day.

I would definitely grab a hike one day. Downtown is incredible but not super big so unless you are taking it really slow you may want a half day somewhere else

I thought about sending him to the commons for GBD and telling him to get methodical.

Soby’s is amazing!

Great town. Everyone talks up Charleston, but Greenville shits on it imo. Much nicer, cooler town imo.

They now have the Drive, a high A affiliate of the Red Sox. Great ballpark walkable from downtown, near many restaurants and entertainment choices.

Thanks for the great recommendations. Exactly what I was looking for to get a head start. We always walk a ton around and would probably find a few of these on our own, but I didn't want to miss a great place accidentally. Hopefully some good weather and plenty of time to just take a breath and get through the rest of Winter with this break.

I second Jianna’s

Was in Greenville for first time this summer and liked Jianna’s so much that we went back 2 nights later.

sure thing man. you can walk from your hotel and hit to swamp rabbit trail to the commons, unity park, and the grand bohemian. tons of breweries off the swamprabbit. you can also rent bikes and ride the trail up to travelers rest and hit their restaurants and breweries if you're feeling active. calling for light rain fri and sat so that might not be an option.

Check out 864foodtrucks.com and see what is close to you, tons of great options. Also, weekend farmers market downtown close to Falls Park is excellent

My in-laws live in Travelers Rest- great small town with brewery and good restaurants but you won't spend an entire day there. It's 10-15 mins from downtown Gville.
Hit swamp rabbit trail for biking/walking. Downtown has tons of great restaurants/breweries along with shopping. Gather is a spot I hit up when there- bunch of shipping containers with food vendors, etc.... You aren't very far from mountains/great hiking and falls if interested in those things.
