My schedule changed and I have to stay a couple of extra days on my trip next week. Is there anything that can be done to avoid $500 in change fees from the airline.

One time isn't going to be a big deal.

How big of a schedule change was it? What airline? Have you tried adjusting it via the airline's app?

That is key... Thats a big change fee, is that the additional ticket cost too?

Most airlines will one time wave a change fee if extenuating circumstances e.g. family stuff, emergency.

The easiest way is to get status and no more change fees...

I don't think he's talking about a flight schedule change. I could be wrong but it sounds like this is a personal or business schedule change and he wants to chanbge his flights but avoid the change fees.

The only way I know around this is when you purchase the fare but unless the airline changes the schedule I think you're stuck paying it if you need to change flights.

Call in and ask nicely. I have done it a dozen or so times on basic economy fares with no fees. You’ll occasionally get the a-hole that won’t but a lot of them will.

I havent seen change fees since pre-Covid, this cannot be a major airline or you booked Basic Economy.
