Favorite Hotel in NYC?

Headed there for the week of thanksgiving. Just the wife and I no kids this year. We have stayed in several different neighborhoods and never stay the same place twice and want to get everyone's favorite. Budget is about 3-400 a night. We avoid times square and most chain places.
We are open to most neighborhoods as we really never have an agenda and hit most of the city so location isnt really all too important.
Just looking for some cool places to research. Thanks!

We like the Hudson. Good bars, good food, good location, hip vibe. Rooms are small.

its quite the norm for sure. We usually try and upgrade to at least not the smallest.

I liked The Archer, in the garment district on W 38th, just a couple blocks from Bryant Park. Good central/midtown location, yet not in the middle of tourist crazy Times Square. It's small, and I found the staff to be incredibly helpful....from providing umbrellas on a rainy day to getting cabs to the airport, to providing restaurant tips. Not fussy in the least. Smallish rooms, but smart underbed drawers to stash your suitcase...Nespresso machines in-room, nice cookies/candies at turndown. A few rooms have a view of the Empire St bldg. LINK

Try the Roxy in Tribeca. May be out of your budget that week because I've seen rooms go from $325-650+ but worth looking into

The Carlyle on the UES.
Close to the park, 2 blocks from the lex and 77th subway stop, and a lot of good restaurants and bars in walking distance.
The UES is so much quieter than midtown, downtown, and tourists areas.

It’s a chain but I like to stay at the Lexington. Good bar. Some history (Marilyn/DiMagio). Very easy to grand central.

The Beacon Hotel on the UWS. 2 blocks west of Museum of Natural History and only 1 block or so from a subway stop. Quiet area with some cool shops and restaurants around

Ended up booking a room at the Kimberly. Got a 2 room king suite for $300 a night. Roof top bar, gym and huge rooms. Couldn't pass it up.

We’ve been going (with kids) to NY over thanksgiving for several years. We stay at Hotel Beacon in Upper West side. It’s like an apartment because you have a separate bedroom & living room with a small kitchen. You’re across the street from Trader Joe’s which helps with the food budget. You’re also a block from the 72nd street station which has an express train to Times Square.

Sigh. The Mayflower, but it isn't there any more. Was on the West side of the park, just up from Columbus Circle. Miss it badly...
