Never going back.
Not worth it.
Not worth it.

I’m not sure how to articulate it, but Vegas is down for the same reason alcohol consumption is down.
People are still doing dumb shite, but as a whole our vices seem to be changing to other things/versions.

That is probably true.
But for me, Deadwood offers everything vegas used to offer.
$5 craps tables, blackjack, etc.
Cheap/free booze
Dining that is normally priced.
No pervasive weed smell

Probably one of the most elegant, exquisite, and luxurious hotels I’ve ever seen. It’s expensive as frick but for good reason. My broke arse wouldn’t even be able to afford 2 nights there.

Small bump...
January gaming numbers just came in. The strip was down 11% and downtown was down 5%. Rest of the state was up in gaming.
This, coupled with the room occupancy only being at 76% is going to raise some eyebrows.

Leaving today. Had a good trip. Chicago, wizard of Oz at the sphere, eagles. City was cleaner and the clientele was better than our last trip. Like others have said it’s really has gotten very expensive and maybe it’s on purpose.

I will go for for concerts or sporting events. I will not go to just gamble. Floored how many people outside of the country flock to it. Went to Europe last year and so many I spoke with said they went to Vegas and felt so bad for them.

This is a terrible take

Lots of international investing in Vegas and a focus on gambling revs from high rollers and not the everyday man.
Looks like it could be taking a toll now with 2025 room occupancy at 85%, but gambling was up like 5%.... However, room occupancy for 2026 sits in the 75% range and gambling is down 11% on the strip thus far.

Was in Vegas for a work show 2 weeks ago.
Arrived late Sunday night. seemed pretty dead the first few days of the week. Thursday morning it started getting real busy and Thursday night and Friday morning was crowded as hell. Speaking about the hotel I was at, Paris.
The show i was at had about half the people it did the year before, when it was in New Orleans. No one wants to go to overpriced Vegas was the consensus on why the show wasn't well attended.
Everyone complained about the price of food on the strip.
First morning the wife and I each got a black coffee and a smoked salmon croissant, $80. Ate at a burger joint for lunch, shared a burger and fries and i got a beer and she got a mixed drink, $100.
Even random people in the elevator were bitching about how expensive everything is, and i assume those people were either there for the show or were with the cheerleading girls that were there for whatever reason (not old people with money pissing money away gambling).
I"m not going back to Vegas ever again. It's pointless and a giant waste of money. fricking happy hour beers for $12. Get the frick out of here.
The food isn't that good and is ridiculously overpriced, drink prices are out of control, always have to buy expensive waters just to stay hydrated and it smells like fricking skunk weed everywhere.
I honestly don't know another big city in the US that i'd not want to go to more than Vegas.

Vegas kind of sucks now unless you or people you're with aren't "high rollers".
I gamble a little, but my wife and her cousin are big gamblers. They're both Seven Stars at Caesars and have hosts, get comped free meals and get comped so many free drinks that we end up giving 10 drinks away in the middle of the night before it resets. An Escalade picks us up at the airport, so no taxi or Uber.
We were at Nobu ordering everything on their menu just for the hell of it because they had to use so much comp money.
There's 10 of us meeting up in Vegas in about 3 weeks and for a few days, we'll live like there's no tomorrow. Going to be hitting up Nobu, Amalfi, Giada and we have reservations at a steakhouse as well, can't remember which one. I also have to go to Peter Luger's for their burger and for their Figs and Sage drink. If anyone ever goes, you have to try the Figs and Sage. It's amazing.
I'd get upset about it, but my wife somehow wins really frequently. She just won 8500 on Sunday and locks up machines like it's nothing. Me on the other hand, can't win for shite. I tell her she's definitely lucky...she married me.
TLDR--if you're going to Vegas to just hang out and your gambling budget is $500 for the whole trip, you're going to be disappointed.

I'm headed to Deadwood/Rapids City area for a week after Vegas, so I will check it out.
Looking forward to it.
I really don't have time to be traveling, I'm about a month behind on building/finishing a bedroom suite out of black cherry.

Vegas Pauly C is a good follow on social media. He's a big gambler and in with a lot of higher ups. He's been calling out executive bullshite for a while now. He's also a huge proponent of Vegas limiting corps to only owning 3 properties in order to drive competition.
He posted the Bellagio charging people ordering room service $25 for silver ware if they needed it. shite hit the fan and Bellagio quickly changed their stance and its now only $10

I love Vegas, and go at least once a year, but I always stay downtown, usually at The Golden Nugget. I haven’t been to The Strip in years. The reason I do that is because downtown still has that old school feel, it’s not near as expensive, and I love watching all of the live bands at night. Also, my knees are shot and I can’t do all the walking on The Strip that I used to be able to do. Even with Ubers you are gonna do a lot of walking.
