Daughter 13(no pics) has Dance Nationals in WDW this summer for a solid week. Debating on if I send her with her mother or me and my son (12) tag along. Is there still enough magic left at that age to inspire a 12 year old? Any suggestions from the all knowing Travel Board is appreciated !

My son was 12 last Orlando trip. He loved Universal but was pretty bored at Disney. Disney only had 2 or 3 rides he liked. Perhaps if you just dumped him off in Star Wars land there might be a chance of excitement?

That's what I am afraid of . He will like the Star Wars world , and that's it. He will like the water parks as well, but that still leaves of 3-4 days to fill

My son was 12 last time we went. He enjoyed a lot of it, but was pretty bored with a lot of it as well. There's enough there to keep a 12 year old's interest, but maybe only for a few days and with Park Hoppers.

My wife’s taking our 13 yr old son next week. I can’t deal, but they’re taking her mom so it’ll be what it is. Maybe he’ll enjoy ‘being a kid’ again. I haven’t shite talked it to him.

I’m going to Mardi Gras, woot!

It depends on the kid. If they like roller coasters, go to Universal. If they just like the idea of Disney and being at Disney, take him there.

If your 12 year old can't have a good time in Orlando you are doing something wrong. The real question is will it be worth it financially to you two? It would add at least $1000 and probably closer to $2000 for the two of you to go. So the question I'd be asking is should we go to Disney for $2000 or spend it elsewhere?

Where are you going to be staying?

As said you have Universal which you two could definitely have a good time. Water parks, and multiple other things to do outside of just Disney rides.

Last time we went mine was around that age and he enjoyed it as he could actually ride all the roller coasters.

I would not bring a high schooler because it would be too lame and they wouldn't want to be seen with you.

Absolutely. I cannot think of a 12 year old not having fun at Disney.

Go to Kennedy Space Center, it's awesome, educational, air conditioned (mostly) and relatively inexpensive.

Lots of things to do for 12 year old. NBA experience at Disney Springs is new and has interactive basketball skills testing and games. If you have fun with it then he will too.

Yes, he will have a good time. Especially if he's never been.
