LAX is the worst airport in the country by far. Piece of shite even more than LGA. Anyone that thinks LAX is not horrible is a delusional idiot.
DFW is okay but I prefer ATL for its pure ease.

Eh, if you walk right into the middle security line with the rest of the sheep you deserve to wait for being lazy.
In any event, I never take more than 5 minutes with Precheck there.

Worst was LaGuardia. frick that place.
LaGuardia could be a retrofitted Greyhound bus stop.

I have been in nearly every airport mentioned in this thread at one time or another but mostly for short layovers, so I don’t have a whole lot to say about them and I’m blurry on specifics.
I fly out of PNS (Pensacola), ATL and MSY. Price being equal I prefer PNS because it’s the closest and smallest. Sometimes I get a good deal out west from MSY and fly from there. But nowadays I fly internationally the vast majority of the time and it’s a lot cheaper just to drive to ATL. But since that’s a four hour drive I leave pretty early to give myself time to deal with any delays that may arise. They usually don’t, so I often spend a lot of time there before my flights. I know it’s busy as hell, but I like ATL. Never had a bad experience there.
Heard a lot of good things about Detroit - not just here but elsewhere. Haven’t been there yet but have a layover there next Monday.
Can’t remember if Denver has been mentioned, but I like their airport. And like everyone else I hate LaGuardia.

DFW is nice for plane watching and I do love the busy-ness. You just need a good chunk of time for layover.
My top 3:
DEN (although pissed the closed off the bridge security last time I was there).
DTW
MSP (although the security at T1 blows but once past it, it's a pretty cool. Haven't flown out of T2, but will in a few weeks)

DTW - both terminals are really nice

You drive four hours instead of hopping on a plane in Pensacola?

MCI airport in KC sucked dick when I went in 2014.

For the money I save, yes. But even the P'cola airport is an hour away, so it's more like a three hour difference.

When I lived in Amarillo, TX I'd drive 5 hrs to DFW or 6 hrs to DEN to save several hundred bucks. It's actually worth it in most of my cases.

I rank airports on the full experience. Until recently, I had never been on a flight that originated in Denver. The airport was good for a connecting flight, but once I had to drive to it, park, go through security, and get to my gate, my opinion changed.
My most important factors are:
Access - how easy is it to get to, with traffic, distance to go, parking etc... This includes how long does it take you to get into the terminal from the parking lot. Bonus points for being able to park my car in a reasonably priced lot and walk to the terminal.
Security - How easy is it to through security. Is the security line a consistent bottleneck to get to the gate
Amenities on the concourse. This is a distant third to me, as I rarely eat in the airport. I will stop for a beer if I have time, but I'm not going to stop and have a sit down meal at a French restaurant in the airport. An assortment of shops and a place to have a fine craft beer are pluses, though.
Having said that, PDX, JAX, CVC, BDL, and IND were some that I felt were the best, IMO.
DET, DFW, ORL, TPA, MSP, and ORD are next level.
I hated LGA, JFK, EWR, LAX, and MIA.

Phoenix is awful with their inane rental car center being 2 miles away

I don’t know if I’d drive that far, but I almost always drive from Birmingham to Atlanta to fly. Recently did this going to Dallas. From BHM was ~$500 round trip with a layover in Charlotte. From ATL was ~$225 direct flight. No brainer.

Yeah those were the closest major airports my way
OKC and ABQ were 4 hrs each but didn't do too much otherwise.

Bismarck, ND
Panama City FL (Northwest Florida Beaches)
Both fairly new, parking is easy, no TSA lines. Never crowded in the terminals, plenty of places to set up a laptop and find a power cord. Car rental is easy (no shuttle nonsense).
There isn't a large airport anywhere that I actually like, but of them Schiphol is the most interesting.
