Worth upgrading Main Cabin to Comfort Plus?
Worth upgrading Comfort Plus to 1st Class?
I tend to fly Comfortplus for domestic but looking at a few international trip and it changes to prices from 500-600 too 1100-1300 which seems a bit absurd to me.

If that is the increase from plus to first for an overnight international flight and it's a lay flat seat, absolutely it's worth it to me to wake up on their time and save a whole day.

Depends on the price jump IMO
Anything more than a 50% increase and I don't think so. I'd agree with your sentiment. Usually, the jump to business or first class from main cabin is a better value if it can be swung. If the jump to premium or comfort type class isn't a good value what we try to do is main or economy there and business or first coming back and that usually breaks out to something like comfort or premium both ways.

They don’t advertise it, but alcohol is free in comfort plus

Delta doesn't give free alcohol in main cabin on international flighs?

Oh I’m sorry I missed the part about the flight being international. I was thinking domestic.

My last international flight, I was on Delta. In the main cabin. I started the flight in main. I volunteered to move my seat so a family could sit together, and they actually upgraded me to Comfort Plus as a result (hooray, positive karma). The Comfort Plus was wayyyyy better, worth it.

It is only 3", but on an international flight it is worth the money (assuming it isn't stupid money). One option is their Premium Select Product too, not first class but very nice

If the flight is less than 3 hours, I book Main Cabin and hope for an upgrade, 3+ hours I book Comfort+.
If I'm going overnight/5-6+ hours, I'm in First

Sneaky tip, some of delta's planes have a seat in main cabin that are right behind the exit row seats. The exit row only had 2 seats on our flight, so you have nothing in front of you and can stretch out as far as you want without paying for Comfort+ prices. It's the window seat in this pic

The lay flat on Airbus needs more cushioning, tho.
