Looking for suggestions for a first time family ski trip at a resort in Colorado in February or March. Looking at Copper Mountain, Keystone, or Winter Park. Looking to fly into Denver, then rent a vehicle and drive to one of these options. Appreciate any and all feedback on these 3 places. Or if you have another suggestion in this area?

Winter Park is a great place for kids and very close to Denver. Would highly recommend it.

Agree with the above. WP is a great choice.

My brother took the family to Copper Mountain this past year and loved it.

For learning I recommend Copper or WP. Buy your passes now. I think Copper lessons include a pass for the days you are doing them. Copper has adult passes for $459 and kids are free if you buy by the end of this month.

I think both Winter Park and Keystone would be great choices for a first time family ski trip.

Breck has a great town and ski school. Peak 8 is your friend

Copper is a great place to learn. Plenty of terrain to keep you busy as you learn and progress and their ski school is great. Breckenridge peak 9 is another option for beginners and is my personal favorite for beginners because it has nice wide open runs to practice turns. Never been to WP but have heard great things. I wouldn't recommend keystone for beginners because I find Schoolmarm and the other greens pretty steep for new skiers.

I’d choose WP, cheaper lodging than the other two options and lift tickets and lessons are higher at Keystone as well I believe. If you are all first time skiers though it really doesn’t matter where you go though

I would strongly recommend Winter Park for a beginner family. Their ski school and the beginner ski hill are perfect for children. That said, I love Copper and like Keystone a whole lot..

Thank you for all the replies. Based on this, im leaning towards either Winter Park or Copper Mountain. Out of those 2, which one has the bigger "town" at the resort? More things to do? Shops/Restaurants?

Neither has a very impressive “ town” compared to places like Vail, Aspen, Breckenridge. Breckenridge in particular, has a great middle class village for normal folks and is known for restaurants, bars and shopping. Winter Park and Copper are more like “ adequate “. I’d still choose one of them for your trip .
If it gives you an idea, every single time I needed to teach a visitor to Colorado To ski I took them to Winter Park. It kind of has a reputation as a great place to learn to ski because the ski school and the terrain is perfect. That said if you go with Copper ( a great intermediate blue run resort), which is my favorite, you will be happy as well.

Copper is basically between Breckenridge and Vail. Winter Park isn’t near anywhere other than RMNP. What I like about Copper is the greens are on the west side, blues middle and blacks east. You don’t ride up a lift and have to traverse blacks to get to greens. Winter Park is pretty similar. Both are great and you’ll have a great time. If you wanna shop and eat out I’d go to one of the i70 places.

We have done WP the past two spring breaks and between WP and the town of Fraiser(they run right together), there are enough places to eat and shop. WP also has a tubing hill and there are snowmobile tours as well.
I believe the closest main town to Copper is Frisco(about 15 mins) which has a lot of restaurants and shops. Not sure about other activities though.
Neither place has the large, fancy base area like a Vail, Aspen, Beaver Creek though. If you want to visit those areas though go to Copper as someone mentioned earlier WP isn’t really near any other ski areas.
