Going to Clarksdale to get the legit "Blues" experience first hand.

Anyone here ever been and stayed downtown close to all the clubs and restaurants?

Any info greatly appreciated..

Abe’s has declined a good bit in my opinion. My favorite lunch spot there is a place called the Dutch oven. Ran by a bunch of Pentecostal ladies that make everything from scratch. Their pies are amazing

Traveled the Delta for 11+ years. This was 20+ years ago. Mostly stayed at an old Holiday Inn...doubt it's still there...wouldn't recommend it now unless it's had extensive remodeling. Other modern chains were moving in. Go to supper joint was called the Ranchero. Got to know the family...nice folks. Ate a lot of lunches at the Rest Haven. The best thing on the menu back then was the homemade pies....pretty good lunches, but those pies rocked! Of note....the best raw oysters I ever ate in my life was at the Ranchero. A restaurant in a cotton field in the Mississippi Delta. I cancelled my steak order and filled up on oysters. Found out they were fresh in that morning from Abbeville Louisiana!

Recommend you stay at the Shack Up Inn for a true Delta experience.

I don't have first hand experience but the Ground Zero Blues Bar is owned at least partly by Morgan Freeman.

+1. Awesome place. They have a complimentary beat up old limo that will take you to Ground Zero. Go.

Spent a couple days there about a month ago. Really enjoyed it. Stayed at Shack Up Inn. Bad Apple’s Blues Club was great. The owner Sean was super friendly. Blues Museum is a must stop. Got BBQ from Ranchero (not very touristy), and loved it! Ground Zero is probably the most popular tourist stop. Good music, food, and friendly service too. Enjoy!

Stone Pony is a pretty cool pizza joint. The owner is a big blues guy and was fun to talk to.
