To update --

Saturday Night - LSU Game at the Standard, Girl and the Goat (hopefully we can squeeze in Friday) at 11:15pm

Sunday Night - Gibson's Steakhouse (unless you all think of a better place to go for a steak)

Don't think you can go wrong with Gibsons, but I'd look into Bavette's, if possible. Along with that, Swift & Sons and Kinzie are my favorites.

We ate at Gibson's when we were there. They literally tried to kill us with food. I didn't think I would get out alive.

Unfortunately they are booked solid. I'll look into the other two, just in case.

Gibson’s while an iconic Chicago steakhouse is not really a place i would go to with just the wife on a vacation trip. Bavettes is a much better rec although I see you said its booked. I’d look for another place to eat unless you are really committed to steak. How old are you?

Good call on Girl and the Goat. My wife and I just did a trip and we had a blast. We had the best steakhouse experience we have ever had at Maple and Ash. I can not recommend it highly enough for an amazing dining experience in a really cool atmosphere. Blows everything else away in my opinion. Have fun!

I hate that place, but I guess if you want some atmosphere with other Tiger fans, it's good for that.. I always give it a chance at the beginning of each season and I am always reminded why I don't like it..

- Number of high-end restaurants and bars in West Loop. Girl and the Goat is most-popular with this board, but other great options are: Oriole, Blackbird, Publican, Fulton Market Kitchen, Elkse, Cold Storage Roister, Duck Duck Goat, Beatrix (other locations in River North and West Town), Green Street, avec, El Che, Maude's, Grange Hall, and Bonci for a slice.

Monteverde is one of my favorites in this area..

- Breweries / Brewpubs: Half Acre (Balmoral or Lincoln), Forbidden Root, Spiteful, Maplewood, Corridor and DryHop (same owners; brewpubs), On Tour, Begyle, Dovetail, Hopewell, Moody Tongue Revolution, Goose Island, Lagunitas, Off Color, Old Irving (brewpub), Band of Bohemia (brewpub; excellent food), Ballast Point (recently-opened their taproom here). Couple others outside the city are Une Annee, More, Noon Whistle, Mikerphone, and FFF.

Revolution is having an Oktoberfest this weekend.. 2 day street fest with music, etc. Fri and Sat

I was just in Chicago for the first time last week. I spent 3 days there on my own exploring, and felt like I barely even scratched the surface.

It's such a great city. Photo ops everywhere you go, great bars (I liked Richards, but I love dives), good food (checked out Au Cheval and Lou Malnati's. Both good, but I had a dental issue that made it hard to fully appreciate them).

I honestly just liked taking the train into downtown (I stayed in the Pilsen for financial reasons. Also a cool hood) and walking around aimlessly until I got tired. If you're with someone else, that might not be an option, though.

Richard's is a great call for a Chicago dive. Let me know next time you're coming back. Have some others that you might like.

Alright everyone -- thanks again for all of your recommendations!

We had a great weekend. I was sick a majority of the weekend, but got to do a lot of things I wanted to do.

Started off with a Friday late breakfast/early lunch at the Little Goat. Dinner that night we went to Lou Malnati's.

Saturday we had breakfast at Cindy's. We then took the architecture tour and got some drinks at the top of the Trump Tower. Caught the Tiger's game over at the Standard. It was a blast.

Sunday we couldn't grab breakfast at Wildberry (it had a 2 hour late). We caught the 2pm Hamilton show and then got drinks and dinner at Bavette's steak house. It was fantastic.

Travel board has never ceased to impress with these requests! Much appreciated to all the insight.

It was pretty great sight seeing. Not overly priced. Good bourbon selection.

I forgot to mention I went to the purple pig which might have been the best meal on the trip.

Glad you made it. Did you get the fried deviled eggs? We could have eaten a dozen of those things.
