Any information.....looking for a place to take the wife for the week.

Is this place nice, cheesy, upscale? Don't know much about it...just thought I would inquire...

Thanks in advance..

My only story from two days out there for business.

Sat down at a micro brewery type place and ordered a pitcher of beer. Me and another guy drank it and I ordered another. Was informed by the waiter that it was one pitcher per table because they were about the craft and not getting drunk. I slid over to the next table and said "how about now?" I was asked to leave by the manager.

I thought they were joking right up until they threatened to call the police.

It's California is all I can say.

Ok thanks screw that place...

Lol..

Been to the Utopia many times....my kids refuse to go back. Because of the California hospitality that you are talking about. Thanks for reminding me of just how it is...

Will head east instead...lol

A week on Catalina? What do you think you plan to do? Walk the island a couple of times?

It's a nice day trip or one for an overnight. More than two days and I think I would start stalking the buffalo for entertainment.

Fond memories of going as a kid years ago, but it was always a day trip or one night overnighter. Interesting and a nice boat ride, but there is no way you should plan on a week.

Are you asking a serious question? If so, I have some info.

I will echo the comments from others -- A week there is too much. It's really a place to escape the crowds and rat race of L.A.

If you are SCUBA certified, then you can dive there. I did my open water certification dives there. The water is cold as frick but the kelp forests were nice. I've been many times but I've only stayed 2 days at a time.

After having gone several times while I was stationed in California, I can echo the comments of others that a week is entirely too long on Catalina. If you were go to for a long weekend, that would be the ideal. Avalon is a nice little town to walk around and it not cheesy or upscale. There are some nice restaurants and bars. The Zipline is fun as you zip from the top of the island down to the beach. You can take a bus to the Airport in the Sky which is nice. You can visit the Casino, Wrigley Botanical Gardens or take a boat tour of the harbor if that's your thing. You can also rent bicycles and golf carts (if I'm not mistaken) to ride around the island. There is another village on the other side of the island called Two Harbors but we never made it over there.

I stayed one full day and had seen everything I wanted to see. Spend your money elsewhere. Kinda boring actually.
