Anyone cruised on this boat out of NOLA? Is it decent?
Looking to book a cruise for November.

I have. Its a nice boat, a little outdated. There are times where you look around and can tell they haven't done much to the boat since the 90's. Overall its a nice boat though, the food is pretty good as well, but not as great as some of the other cruise lines. Get the drink package if you are a big drinker because its just easier to deal with.

The rooms are really small but if you can get a room with a balcony. Overall its a fun boat, if you go onto the trip where it goes to Progresso... stay on the boat that day. That town sucks.

I've been on it. It's a 4-5 which attracts a less affluent clintel. However, I've been on 4 cruises out of NOLA (1 being on the Triumph) and a
Had a great time on all of them.

Be warned, November weather can get pretty rough it's quite windy in the Gulf, however the shop is huge so you if you use to being on a boat it won't bother you much.

Overall I would agree. However, we did the cenote tour (swimming in caves) and had a great time. Bus ride there and back is about 1 1/2 hours.

Check out la pharmacia. That town is awesome.

Not a great experience, but worth it imo. In cozumel rent you a little jeep and cruise the island. didn't see many policia. dont think tourist dui is high on the radar.

boat is like any other. stuff your fat face, drink to oblivion. basically why people go on cruises. pool deck just ok. shows not terrific.

Triumph

It's not a bad boat. It got some upgrades after the fire a few years ago. It's definetly one of the smaller/older boats.

It serves as a good first-time cruise, as well as if you are looking for a cheap, quick getaway.

If you are used to sailing on larger, more expensive ships, you will likely find yourself a bit disappointed.

People on this board make cracks about some of your fellow cruisers. Yeah, you will see some people that you have to wonder how in the world they afforded to go. But most of the people are just looking to have a good time and burn off some energy. Lot of blue collar types.

Appreciate all the input. Sorry I bailed on the thread yesterday:(
Short 4 day cruise with family to Cozumel only.
I am actually looking forward to seeing a few 'unique' people. Making fun of them is my favorite pastime.
Don't really want to do any of the excursions, so the jeep rental sounds like something good.

Last cruise I took was out of NOLA about 15 years ago. Funny the Triumph back then was considered huge. Now it is thought of as small.

My advice for Cozumel....

When you get there walk straight to the Taxi and tell them to bring you to Sky Reef, there's some great snorkeling, really good food and drinks. They have a few different packages you can get.

You could always do Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel.

Last time me and the wife went, we did the Salsa and Salsa excursion. They teach you how to make salsa and how to salsa dance, while also teaching you how to make legit margaritas and giving you unlimited amounts. I was lit drunk at 11 am and then tried to salsa dance. Good times.

Wasn't bad at all.

My boss just went in December and he said there were maybe 20 people there. If you like to snorkel this place is pretty awesome, only better place Iv'e snorkeled is Grand Cayman. He did the $15 package, bought a couple drinks and lunch. Said it was a little less than if he would have just bought one of the packages.

Tell me about the Salsa and Salsa tour. Where di you find this? Is it offered via Carnival?

We booked it via Carnival. Got off the boat and met with a guide who got us checked in and into taxis. We went to a resort hotel. Everything was there. We did the salsa and salsa in the morning. They had some food for us too. Then when that part was over, you could either change and go swim at the resort pool, or leave right then and take a taxi back to the port. We stayed, and had to meet back at the front desk at a certain time for our ride back.

They say you can bring kids... this cruise was without kids and honestly I can't imagine bringing kids to this. No one when we did it had kids there - there was one group that had a 16 year old. Also, they say you can go to the pool and/or the beach... but the beach here isn't much and was pretty rocky.

Carnival link - LINK

The company is called salsa and salsa and they have a website but google says it may be hacked so I won't link it. they also have a facebook page. I think there are a few locations. A friend of mine did a cruise to Baja California and there is one there and she loved it as well.

Unless you like brash crude people, cruise on Royal Caribbean.
