Carnival Jubilee or MSC Seascape

Other than Scotland next summer Mrs jkyle and I are looking at taking my 8 year old on a cruise since he loves them and he’s not going on our trip to Scotland. I’m looking at a June 2027 cruise outta Galveston. Looking like 2300-2700ish (total for all 3) bucks between the two I’m looking at
MSC seascape -7 day - costa maya , Roatán, Cozumel
Carnival jubilee-6 day - Cozumel and roatan.
I’ve cruised carnival twice and didn’t find it bad at all with the riff raff going outta Galveston. Never cruised with anyone else. Not a fan of cruises but this is for the little guy and I’m trying to choose between these two.
Any help or feedback would be much appreciated. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and happy travels
* I don’t drink so drink packages aren’t of any interest to me and also don’t think we will be looking at excursions except perhaps a snorkel in roatan
* I’ve also researched the ships a little and both look to be very large ships. The jubilee is one of the top ranked carnival ships with a coaster and tons of water slides

If it’s for the kid’s enjoyment, do Carnival.
We have over 60 cruises on Carnival over the years.
That being said, we rarely do Carnival, especially out of NOLA.
Galveston clientele wasn’t bad the last time we sailed out of there (4 yrs).
MSC is more an adult crowd type cruise.

Thank you. I am gathering the food situation on carnival is definitely superior. I cruised to the Bahamas on the dream and thought it was a cool ship. The jubilee looks to be one of the best ships in carnivals fleet.

We sailed the Jubilee sister ship, the Mardi Gras. It was fantastic. A ton of people but never crowded. So many dining venues to explore.
The primary Cruise Director on the Jubilee, Kyndell “Fire” was a great host when she was on Mardi Gras.
You saw here everywhere, very energetic and personable.
Good luck and happy sailing with the wind t your back.

I've been on both and I would say Carnival Jubilee is going to be better suited for bringing an 8 year old. He will have a blast.
However, I don't think you could go wrong the Seascape either. Looked like they had plenty to do for kids as well but maybe not to the extent of the Jubilee.

Thank you. I’d it true that the included food on seascape is not that great. I really love the look of that ship and I’m so torn bc seascape is a couple hundred bucks cheaper now and it’s a 7 day vs a 6 on the jubilee.
The jubilee just looks like such an incredible ship though. Not sure if so much so for one less day and 3-500 more bucks

I didn't find the food on the Seascape to be much different than Jubilee as far as quality. It's cruise ship food. It's never going to be the best meal you've ever had but not the worst either. The only downside to food on the Seascape is there are no "quick spot" places for lunch during the day like there is on the Jubilee...such as Blue Iguana, Guys Burgers...those sorts of things. Everything for lunch is buffet or main dining room.

We did the MSC Seascape this past December, and it was fantastic! We opted for the Yacht Club so that may color our opinion of the venture.

Nice. I’ve heard that’s a solid upgrade. How was the ship ? The crowd ?

If you’re used to Carnival, MSC will be quite an adjustment. I recommend MSC to folks who want to save money and have not cruised before.
You’re going to miss Carnival’s quick service food. There’s even more options on the Excel class ships.
We liked the Jubilee; it’s BIG compared to other classes of Carnival ships. It’s definitely a different experience and one of the better ships out of Galveston.

In the Yacht Club, there were no crowds. Fabulous meals, priority at shows, a separate swimming pool, with buffet. Priority for excursions and disembarkation. We would get room-service coffee every morning and drink it on our private balcony, then join our traveling companions for breakfast. Every evening, I enjoyed special drinks (only negative - they charged me $2 for my 18-year-old Macallan even though we had the full drink package.

Carnival is better for kids. Msc can be hit or miss.

I just did some more looking and it appears carnival has another ship outta Galveston called the breeze that does a 7 day for around same price point with the added stop of Belize. Would adding a day and Belize to the trip warrant a ship downgrade in yalls opinion. I’ve read the breeze is great but I’m aware it’s prob a lot less cool than the jubilee.

I've never been a fan of the Belize port stop. There's probably some fun excursions to do if you're into that sort of thing but we typically like the ports where we can just go hang out at a beach club for the day. There aren't many options for that from the Belize port and the port itself is terrible.

Thanks. It’s been an extremely tough call but I’ve settled on the seascape with MSc. Kinda eager to try a new cruise line for once and it appears to be an awesome ship. What pushed it over the top for me was that for just a 60$ up charge from a basic interior room I upgraded to one of two on the whole ship’s premium interior rooms which has 305 square feet. That’s pretty giant for a cruise ship room at that price point. I did my research and find it strange that there are literally only two on the entire ship on deck 10

Belize City is not a place I would want to hang around for any length of time.
We enjoyed touring the Myan ruins that are about a half hour’s drive from there, but I didn’t see any great beaches or resort areas and the town itself was not that attractive.
One pleasant thing to do there is have drinks at the bar in the Great House Hotel which is in a pretty French Quarter style courtyard.

Ended up choosing seascape for the giant interior room but curious what’s wrong with Belize. Genuinely asking I’ve never been

There is a crime problem. Tom Fitzmorris once got mugged there while strolling the waterfront a short distance from the cruise port.
I did find the tour of the Mayan ruins interesting.
