Im looking for a smaller, less touristy place than like a Sandals or Atlantis. I’d still prefer an all inclusive, with some amenities, but won’t need many excursions.

Pretty beaches, pretty water, nice pool, in-room/deck private pool or hot tub would be a bonus.

I’d love to go somewhere like St Barts, St Kitts, Turks and Caicos, Antigua, etc. There’s just so much info online it’s hard ti weed through it all. Have any of y’all been somewhere recently you’d recommend?

COCOS in Antigua is the best I’ve found by myself so far.

Sandals Royal Caribbean is a smaller version of Sandals Montego Bay. We really enjoyed it. We’ve stayed at four sandals resorts and it was by far our favorite.

Go to st Barths. While not cheap, prices in the summer are much better.

Fly into sxm. Take commuter puddle jumper to st Barths. Rent a car. Rent a villa. Drive to a a different beach everyday. Rinse. Repeat.

I will be the devil's advocate and tell you to not do all inclusive. You can find an amazing house with a private pool for cheap in the summers in the USVI and renting a jeep won't break the bank either. I would recommend St. John over St. Thomas. We went to St. Thomas for our honeymoon and loved it. St. John has more and prettier beaches IMO. We are more the peace and quiet alone type people so having a private house and pool was fantastic. There is more to do in St. John as well. I can give you recs on beaches, restaurants, and stuff to do if you go this route. But you can't go wrong no matter what you choose if you go to the Caribbean.

Thanks guys. I have some homework to do. The all-inclusive part was to cut down on some of the planning stress, but we probably will do a super small wedding, and then just plan a big party when we get back.

I like the idea of a private house and renting a car. Getting off the beaten path.

There are houses in Punta Cana you can rent that come with a chef and housekeeper for relatively cheap. Punta Cana also has a few decent all-inclusives.

Let me know if you want/need any recs for food and whatnot. Almost all car rental companies will pick you up from the airport so you don't have to find a ride to get to them. You do have to take a car barge from St. Thomas to St. John. Only airport is on St. Thomas. That is always one of my favorite parts though. Makes you anticipate what's to come. I'm always jealous of people going to the Caribbean! One of my favorite places.

Appreciate it! I spent a week fishing Cat Island last year and it was an absolute dream trip. The water there is unexplainable. Cat Island isn’t really a touristy place and there’s really no resorts so it won’t work for this trip, but it pretty much made me fall in love with that whole area. I’ll be back to CI to fish again, but I’ll probably take a Caribbean trip every year now.

I know the Bahamas aren’t officially part of the Caribbean, but close enough for me.

I’m interested in this topic as well. I’m getting married in December and we’re looking at going the all-inclusive in the Caribbean route as well.

We went to the Sandals La Toc in St. Lucia and really enjoyed it. The property seemed to be a little older than the Grand and Halcyon but it was also a lot quieter. It wasn’t crowded at all and had good restaurants on site. They also provided a shuttle so if you wanted to visit the other 2 resorts you were welcome to do so for more dining options. The diving is free but you get what you pay for so if you want to dive I would definitely go offsite. If you do go, do the dune buggy tour. They let you drive a dune buggy through the streets and you follow the tour leader to all the popular sites on the island. It was a lot of fun driving a stick shift dune buggy from the Right side seat. You could smell all the clutches burning when we ended that tour. We had a great trip and would like to go back for an anniversary one day.

If you want a great all inclusive for the beach alone then Couples Swept Away In Negril is one of the best values out there.

If you want something more expensive then I’d go Virgin Islands.

Went to Excellence El Carmen for our honeymoon last year and it was the best experience I could ask for.

Can't wait to go back.

We did Peter Island BVI. Originally we were booked with Rosewood Little Dix Bay but they cancelled our reservation due to planned renovations.

Peter Island was great and had most of what your looking for except in room/deck private pool. They probably do offer some seperate villa with that.

Peter Island is fantastic. Unfortunately, it suffered extreme damage during Irma and has not reopened yet.

That stinks. I remembered it suffered some damage but figured they had everything squared away by now.

Yes, sadly.

However I do believe that Virgin Gorda Yacht Club has reopened and that would be a fantastic spot for this honeymoon.
