California mask mandate pushing us to Colorado in January. With a 3 year old?

So we were heading to San Diego but now they have a mask mandate and I don't want to deal with it, but alternatives are slim. Judging by the other thread vaccination status won't be an issue for us.
Hyatt seems to have a lot of availability at their resorts (Vail/Breckenridge/Beaver Creek) but before I go that route, is there anything to keep a 3 year old occupied in winter? In California we had the aquarium, Legoland, San Diego Zoo and Safari etc. so it would have been easy. Perhaps split time between Denver and mountain?
Any particular town better than another? Southwest airlines service or close preferred. Thanks

Have to imagine some resorts in Colorado have day programs for little kids - like a camp where you can drop them off for a few hours. And things like ice skating, snow tubing, etc... would also keep everyone entertained.
Just had to cancel a trip to NYC over the new vax mandate extending to kids and new definition of vaccinated for adults. Keeping an eye on Europe for summer...

Honestly going somewhere where I have to wear a cloth mask but have plenty of entertainment for a 3yr old seems much, much easier than going mask free with a 3yr old somewhere with less entertainment where you’ll be cooped up indoors most of the time. That’s just me though.

Which is fair but it applies to him as well which just isn't going to happen. Now, will people say anything to us about him? I don't know.

You can go along with him and enforce the mask wearing on the 3 year old then. It's not necessarily about the adult wearing the mask (for most people at least).
If I knew employees wouldn't care about my 3 year old not wearing a mask it would be no brainer but people are insane.

Ya, we traveled with him multiple times in 2020 before he was two years old in the middle of the height of the BS (even then I had to remind people he wasn't even two when they requested he mask), but in 2022 c'mon. It's already stressful planning out the flight around his nap time to try to avoid a mask issue there, I don't need that weighing on me the whole time.

Agreed. Now that my two are 3 and youngest is turning 2 in a few weeks - mask free travel is the goal and difficult to find good destinations.
Best of luck with your search. I'd love to take kids to San Diego but CA is nuts.
Headed to Boston and Disney in the next month so we'll see how that goes...

Ya San Diego is saner but the state overruled them now. Frustrating but they'll get tired of it too eventually....some day.

CDC guidance is 2+ so everyone follows that basically when they do mask mandates.
As opposed to Europe which has different science than us apparently and doesn't consider masking until about 6 years old.
