Want just a little getaway. Just me and the wife. I’m open to other ideas but we’ve done the beach thing and skiing is too far off.
Looking for 3-4 nights somewhere.

Go stay at a B&B in Fairhope, AL or stay at the Marriott Grand Hotel right down the road from there. It's one of the nicest resorts in the gulf south area.

I guess it might be a little expensive, but I use hotel reward points.

Mentone Alabama or close to there.

7 hours isn’t what I consider a short drive but thanks!
Will look around

Well you won’t find trees changing color or crisp air any south/west of that. It’s nicer than you think for being only that far away.

Percy Quinn state Park in Mississippi is probably only 2 hours drive. Nice Lake, cabins, golf course, etc.
Or try Lake De Gray State Park south of Hot Springs in Arkansas if that is not too far. Lodge cabins, golf course, horseback riding, fishing.
Or head west and try Chicot near Ville Platte if you just want to hike, fish, or relax.

There’s Clarkco State Park just south of Meridian, and I’ve stayed in the cabins there many times, but just keep driving.

I know you weren't interested in a beach area, but the state park in Gulf Shores has some nice looking cabins back on a little lake. Might be nice out there that time of the year.

I’ve stayed in few of them, they’re actually styled nicely on the inside.

Found a cabin in Fairhope.
Very secluded back in the woods. Beautiful place, 7 minutes from beach, close to the golf course.

Thanks for the replies!

Would you mind sharing the link for what you find? I'm always looking for stuff like this.

Fairhope is a very cool little town.

My wife and I figure if we’re gonna drive 5-6 might as well drive 8-10 for some DRASTICALLY better scenery.

You might check out northern GA, Murphy, TN, or Hot Springs, AR.

North Arkansas. Jasper area. We have a cabin the in November for the leaf's changing. Cheap and it's beautiful up there.

There's a few state parks that have nice waterfront cabins for rent if available: Chico State Park, Lake Fausse Point, Fountainbleau.

There's also some cottages/cabins to rent at several of the local plantations. My wife and I stayed at Oak Alley for example and really enjoyed it, but I wouldn't stay there for several days. That's more of a one-night getaway.
Oak Alley Cottages

You could always do what real baws do and rent a Cabin at Cajun Palms.

Love North Georgia. We did a VRBO cabin which we loved even if it was really secluded and about 20 miles off main road.
