I'm 26 and single. I'm gonna take a week of in April to fly down and visit the Virgin Islands. It's my ideal vacation. What's the best place to stay (Tortola, St Thomas, St John)? and What should I do while there?

Have fun! St John is the obvious choice. I would not suggest staying on St Thomas. Find a charter boat that will take you on a day trip to several of the BVI, particularly Jost Van Dyke.

By yourself? Not that there is anything wrong with solo travel but BVIs are best explored by boat. To be it by Boat easier with more people to split the cost.

a favorite location.....Stay at a B&B in st Thomas to enjoy the chickens and iquanas. Use the local ferries to go to the BVI side and stay a night or two in cane garden bay. Ferry to the Bitterend for a drink. As a single guy go local. I have had the family there about a dozen times. Stay out of the resorts. They are the same as florida

Would try and stay on St. John over St. Thomas, or if you're a baller just say frick it and get a place on Jost for a week and don't leave. Try to get to The Baths, and definitely the Willy T.

Stay on St. John over St Thomas. Cruz bay has a ferry that will take you to Tortola and Jost among other places. Also can jump on the shuttles and hit the north side beaches. That would be a good home base spot. Highest concentration of bars and restaurants in Cruz Bay also.

Hands down the best vacation me and the wife have taken so far. I dream of the day that we can go back. With baby #2 on the way it won't be for another few years.

We stayed on the very far West end of Tortola at place called Frenchmans Cay. Unfortunately it is not reopening after the Hurricanes last year. We enjoyed staying here because many beaches were within driving distance, ferry to Jost van Dyke was right there and it was only 45 minute drive to Road town for the Ferry to Virga Gorda and other islands.

Next time I go back I hope it is on my own Catamaran charter. Sitting on the beach and having a Catamaran yacht anchor off the beach and a dozen people come ashore had me really jealous and wanting to do that. Hopefully one day I can do that. My dream vacation is sailing all the BVI islands

BVI >>> USVI

If I were solo, I'd rent a small sailboat and hop around islands. check the sticky thread--there is a bunch on BVIs and USVIs specifics.
