re: Boston Family Trip - Where to Stay
Posted by JustForThisThread on 4/8/25 at 8:50 am
I started a post about a month ago for this same trip. Taking a Boston Family trip in June. We are planning to stay at the Hilton Boston Back Bay. Good to know Back Bay is a nice area. Also will be attending a game at Fenway.
Curious how big your family is and how old kids? I have an 8yr old boy and 6 yr old girl. Haven't really planned many other things to do in Boston yet.

Me and the family are going on vacation to Boston in June and plan on catching a game. Not looking to spend a fortune on seats. Where is the best place to sit in Fenway?

Bumping the thread I posted in earlier this morning about this same topic. I see this one took off so don't want mine to get pushed to 2nd page.

The wife and I decided sort of last minute to take a family vacation to Boston/Cape Cod the first week of June (1st-7th). Figured I would add to this most recent Cape Cod thread that came up in the search rather than making a new one.
We are thinking of staying in Boston for 3 nights June 1st-3rd. No plans yet other than catching a Red Sox game. Any recommendations on best seats in Fenway and where to get tickets? I was looking at MLB.com and tickets seem to be reasonable.
From Boston we plan to rent a car and drive to Cape Cod and stay for 3 nights June 4th-7th. We are considering either a VRBO in Chatham or maybe the Winnstead Inn which I have seem recommended a few times here. Any advice on if a VRBO or staying at an Inn/Hotel would be better?
We would likely drive up and down the island exploring and figure it out from there. Nothing major planned and just enjoy the sights/beaches/little towns. I have seen traffic on the island can get bad. Should this be a big issue in early June? We would definitely want to do a whale watching tour as well so one day we would drive all the way up to Provincetown and I would hate for that to turn into a traffic nightmare of a day.
Question on flights. There are 2 nonstop options on our travel dates flying with Delta or JetBlue. I have never flown JetBlue but they are much much cheaper than Delta. Is JetBlue known as a discount airline? Is it a get what you pay for type of thing? Im just tying to understand why they are so much cheaper and do not want to be booking a Spirit Airlines type of airline.
I appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks.

re: Does Epic Games have a Customer support phone number?
Posted by JustForThisThread on 4/26/24 at 11:35 am
I got this figured out. From the screenshots I posted above I had to create a different Epic display name. Once I did that I then had to create a new email account because the current email I use was already registered to another account. Which I assume is the account for my sons Nintendo Switch.
So after making a new Gmail account strictly for this I was able to get the PSN account registered and linked and add the Vbucks card.
Thank you for all the replies with help and I'm following up with my solution in case this is helpful for anyone in the future.

Thanks. It seems that if I just create this new Epic Games account then it should work.......Hopefully. I was trying to make the display names match but good to know those can be different.
If that doesn't work for some reason I'll be back for any other ideas. Thanks for all the replies.

So I have found this on their support site.
After following this process it appears that it does find the account for the PSN. And now it asks me to fill in a display name.
But I can not input the same Display name. So my question is, is this display name just the name for the Epic account? Does that have any affect on the Display name on the Fortnite game? I think I can solve this by creating a new display name like it is asking but I do not want to change my sons Display name on the game itself.

No, I don't believe so. I have been working at this for a few weeks now.
I tried creating a ticket and then started a live chat with support but it wasn't much help. I do not know if I was speaking to a live person or not. It seemed very odd. Then I was told that our conversation was being converted to email. The whole exchange was strange and felt very suspicious. I also never received an email from the person like they said. So I left the chat.
I just have no idea how I can find the account that the PS4 is linked with.

I am trying to put V-bucks on my sons Fortnite account but it keeps telling me that the Playstation is not linked to that account.
I have put V-bucks on the Playstation account before. More recently I have put V-bucks on his Nintendo Switch account. But now it tells me that the Playstation is not linked. I almost positive I have always only had 1 Epic account. I would like to call Epic games to talk to someone for help but I can not find a phone number.
Has anyone ever called Epic Games for customer support?

re: Capital One VentureX Credit Card question

Thanks and agreed. The Cap1 travel portal isn’t the best and often times I struggle finding exactly what I want so I eventually just book direct. Gives me something to think about. Although, it’s likely only 1 small travel booking would cover this credit anyway.
Capital One VentureX Credit Card question
Posted by JustForThisThread on 7/23/23 at 3:57 pm
Currently have used the Cap1 Venture Card for i don't know how many years. We put as much as we can on Credit Card and just pay off every month. Then we try to bank points for any vacations each year.
Just decided to look at Cards and Venture X seems to give you same double points per purchase but greater travel rewards and perks. Has a much higher fee but comes with $300 travel credit and $100 travel credit each year so that covers itself.
Seems a no brainer to go with this card. Anyone else use this card and any other advice? I'm sure there may be better options out there but i like to keep things simple and like the overall ease of use and travel points with Cap1 Venture.
thanks.

This trip is finally here. Fly out in the morning for Nassau. Wanted to thank you guys again for helping plan this trip. Haven't really planned anything. Just hope to make it there and once on the island we will just take it from there.
As long as I can stop and buy alcohol for the room fridge, lay on the beach in peace in quiet it will be a success.

re: Nintendo Switch - Wifi issues & Joycon repair

Thanks for the replies. I have since learned that the D-pad buttons also do not work well. These joy cons are so delicate. I know they have not been used poorly but just the typical gaming and hitting buttons they have not held up well. Hopefully all this can be repaired.
We do not have spares so this is my biggest concern. Dealing with an impatient 6 year old!!

Thanks. Would they be able to tell me in advance before sending them the Joycons if they would fix the bumper?
Son prefers to play handheld so hardwire adapter wouldn’t help. but that’s interesting and never knew they had that.

Nintendo Switch - Wifi issues & Joycon repair
Posted by JustForThisThread on 5/15/23 at 11:46 am
2 questions:
1) The Joy cons on my sons Nintendo Switch have bad stick drift and the top right bumper button does not work.
I see from their website Nintendo offers free repair service. Anyone have experience with this? How long it normally takes? Is it just free repair on the stick drift or would they also fix the broken bumper button? Would love to have fixed for free than spend $80 on new ones.
2) The wifi signal goes out often on the Switch. Either a very weak signal or he loses connection while playing and gets kicked out of a game. I have AT&T fiber and no issues on any other device. He plays very close to the routers as well so its never an issue of being out of reach of the signal. Is this a common issue and any possible solutions?
Thanks for any advice.

Got busy at work today and wish i would have seen this sooner. I was getting antsy and nervous so I went ahead and booked the flights. Did not want to risk something happening and not making the flight so went ahead and booked the 3:55 to be safe.
Guess we'll just have 4 hours to kill in the airport.
Now I can start looking toward towards things on the trip. We ended up booking Cape Santa Maria. Turns out we know of 2 people that have stayed there the past 2 years and my wife is sold on it. We'll just rent a car a day or 2 and explore around the island.
I got recommended the Eagles Nesting Restaurant. Anyone eaten here?

Thanks. Ended up booking completely different outbound flight with different airline and airport. Still have the 2hours on the return home.
