Headed to Blue Ridge the last week of October and was wondering some of the must do / see things. Waterfall hikes and places to eat and other interesting things to see or do while there. We may make a drive to Helen for the day. We are bringing my parents so strenuous hike are likely out of the question. Thanks

North Georgia Apple Festival

Mercier Orchards

Both are touristy and crowded, but they are must do's.

I don’t know how much time you have, but Ducktown Tennessee has an interesting museum.

Just went a couple of weeks ago. Whiskey & Water and The General Ledger were both decent restaurants right next to each other.

Went on a great rafting trip on the Ocoee, it was about 30 min drive north in Copper Hill, TN. Highly recommend, I took my upper 60s yr old parents and they did fine.

Went to Mercier Orchards, it was worth stopping but kinda crowded and more for kids. They had some ciders and wines you can try and a little bar area on the side. You can skip this if short on time.

you will be bored on the train.
Go to Helen instead and drink some beer during Oktoberfest. Helen might be an hour east of Blue Ridge at most. I haven't been there for an Oktoberfest weekend, but i would imagine its pretty fricking awesome b/c it's a cool little German town and a fun place when it isn't October.

Just went in July; some opinions:
Toccoa Riverside Restaurant; excellent - if the weather’s nice go out on the back patio
Mercier Orchards - touristy but the cinnamon apple bread is worth the trip
Sasquatch Museum - cheesy but fun
Amicalola State Park - 45mins away but the place for hiking & waterfalls
Fall Branch Falls is closer and a decent hike
Toccoa Valley Campground for tubing (pink tubes) - relaxing and just long enough; bring or buy a push-stick
Train was ok, but not worth the time spent

and the beginning of the Appalachian Trail.

This is a common comment heard about the train.

It was neat, then the tornadoes happened and now it is more like a trashy pigeon forge style place.

while i get that the train isn't for everybody, we found it relaxing, which is why we go to blue ridge in the first place...we took the 2 hour afternoon trip...

the black sheep in blue ridge is excellent...we enjoyed it so much, we ate there twice on our last trip...the owner is from louisiana, if you care about that sort of thing i also agree with the poster who mentioned toccoa riverside restaurant...

cantaberry is good for a soup/sandwich type of meal, and there are a number of shops and galleries near there in the downtown area...

there are scenic driving tours that you can find online, and as others have mentioned, lots of outdoor activities within a short radius...
