Big Sky Montana - Summer

Looking for a place to go this summer in the mountains. I have been to most places in Colorado, Jackson Hole, and Lake Tahoe, but haven't done Montana. Is there much to do in Big sky as far as restaurants, shopping, etc. or is it pretty much just the mountain/river activities?

Have you been to Yellowstone?

Pretty much mountain/river. Some shopping, some restaurants, but it’s nothing to write home about.

As far as Montana goes Whitefish has much more going on than Big Sky.

Are you looking for Upscale like the others mentioned? If not, do big sky, ennis, west yellowstone, enjoy some breweries in bozeman. Lots to enjoy thats nothing like jackson.

I would echo what others have said. Travel with a group of guys every August and we did Big Sky twice. Limited options for dining / drinking and pretty much had to drive from the base to town to find those options, which was not conducive due to our heavy drinking.
We also were basically driving 45 minutes each way +/- back to Bozeman to meet our fishing guides so not very convenient.
We did Tahoe (truckee area) last summer and it was better all around, except for fishing quality (convenience was better).

Spent 2 days for work there and it’s pretty dead there as far as shopping, restaurants, etc. The town itself is just a small little area with a park in the middle. It’s cool to hang out for like half a day and have lunch.

Went golfing there last summer and had a good time

Bozeman is close. You’d problem end up there for bars and eating out. There’s a decent but small restaurant scene in Big Sky.
