You can get to Roatan, Belize, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, or Cozumel

Those really aren’t good ports.

Also someone mention the private islands, NCL does stop and one of their private islands on trips from Nola and Galveston

Have you booked it yet ? If not, I’d consider going with Holland America or Princess for an Alaskan cruise.

We have it reserved. Got a good deal and I heard it’s too hard to pass up.

Nice. We had two Alaska cruises crapped on during Covid.

Norwegian is the better choice.

Answer to the Alaskan cruise question.

I have been on two Alaskan cruises, both on Holland America. I enjoyed them very much.

I have been on a bunch of cruises with Norwegian and liked those too.

I have been on a few Carnivals but the last one was 25 years ago. I don’t need to do that anymore.

wouldn't go near any of them unless 100% staffed. The last one we went on 3 of 4 restaurants closed as well as multiple bars. Trip was half-assed at best. I'd give it another year or 2.

Don’t listen to shite like this. We just got back from a Norwegian cruise out of NOLA. It was great. Everything was open. Their island, Harvest Caye, was very nice. Super clean. Roatan is fun. Go to Tabayana beach and snorkel off the beach all day. It’s amazing. Costa Maya does kinda suck unless you do an excursion. Just not much to do there but we chose to just lay around the pool and drink. Cozumel is cozumel. Lots of fun to be had.

Carnival & NCL port older ships out of NOLA. Pro: they’re cheaper. Con: they draw a crowd who can only afford cheaper.

Wrong.

The Breakaway out of Nola is not an old ship at all and is in fact very nice. It’s a way classier crowd than Carnival and you really shouldn’t be considering the two in the same tier.

Generally speaking the rule of thumb is the longer the cruise the less trashy, the 3 and 4 day long weekend cruises are the trash parties.

The Breakaway out of Nola

…is 10 years old. That’s middle aged for a cruise ship. NCL has debuted 6 more ships since the Breakaway (7 when Viva debuts this year). It’s all NYC interior design is very dated.

So… there are 7 newer ships in their fleet. It’s an “older” ship.

I been on 2 carnivals and 2 Norwegians out of nola

Carnival was always a bit raucous. More tats and piercings. Went on one in October and saw a guy deck another guy flat out in the poolside bar on the lido deck. The guy hit the deck and laid there for @ 3 hours bleeding out of this mouth. Finally medical care and took the guy away. It wasn’t even 7pm.

I knew it was going to be a wild trip

Do yourself a favor and take a boat out of Florida. Bahamas are 100x's nicer and you are not on floating zoo
