Best place to stay in Shreveport

Will be there for the last weekend of the State Fair first weekend in November. Looking for the best place to stay without staying with they types that are there for the fair. Hotel or Casino with a restaurant and bar would be great.

Go to Bossier and stay at the Horseshoe

I've stayed at the Home2 Suites on Eastbank Road, and it was nice. I'd stay there again.
I've also spent the night at one of the casinos in Bossier. I think it was Boomtown. The room was nice, and it was less expensive than other places in the area, which is why our executive assistant booked the room.

Hilton downtown at convention center
Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites on Old Minden Road in Bossier. It’s right by I-20, so as convenient as places in Shreveport
There is a Hampton and a Holiday Inn Express in SE Shreveport, both near Bert Kouns. Gets you in the suburbs near lots of restaurants within a short drive.

I’ve stayed here twice. It’s a convenient hotel.

If you’re going to the State Fair, this would be really convenient. You want to be near I-20.

Residence Inn in Bossier City. Easy and close on and off exits to I-20 and close to casinos (right in front of the Horseshoe), the Boardwalk and several restaurants & breweries.

Stay at home...there's nothing and I repeat nothing worth going to Shreveport for unless its for a relatives funeral whose left you alot of money!

From someone who grew up in Shreveport, there are no good/safe areas around the fair. Your best bets would be one of the following.
If you're a HHonors guy, the Hilton Downtown. I've stayed here a few times and it is walking distance to casinos and places downtown, but definitely on the outskirts.
If you're a Marriott Bonvoy guy, the Courtyard Shreveport-Bossier City/Louisiana Boardwalk is located on thr grounds of the boardwalk which gives you something to do, but the shops have become outlets unfortunately.
Also, there is a joint SpringHill Suites/TownePlace Suites opening this month on E. 70th Street, which is near a ton of stuff.
If you don't care about the major chains, the Horseshoe and Margaritaville casinos in Shreveport are good options as well as The Remington Suite Hotel & Spa. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
