checkout this place called Pinewood Social. It's hard to describe..there's a bar, there's food, but there's also a bowling alley, among other things. It's an interesting concept and really cool.

We stayed downtown for my work Christmas party last year. Everything was hopping, live music in most bars around 10:00 am. We had dinner one night at Skull's Rainbow Room, an old bar with some pretty good food, live Jazz the night we were there.

We visited the Country Music HOF, it was pretty good, but as a part of that we added on the RCA Studio B tour. I had no idea the importance of that studio, it was incredible to learn about the history of that one room and all the songs recorded there.

The Pharmacy is a great burger joint.

If you want a nice steak dinner, hit up Kayne Prime.

As far as bars, just go down on Broadway if you are wanting the "honky tonks" - Tootsie's, the Stage, Honky Tonk Central, Paradise Park.

If you want a more local feel, I would recommend the midtown and Music Row area - Winner's, Loser's, Red Door, Brewhouse, Tin Roof.

How is the Cumberland Science Museum these day? I used to have a good night sky planetarium show.

Kitchen Notes in the Omni Hotel is good place to eat.

They have a good Sunday brunch and a very good diner. LINK

What type of food are you looking for?

Some of my favorites are:

Dinner:
5th and Taylor - best lamb dish in the city (Lamb Duo)
Lockeland Table - good execution on farm to table concept
Urban Grub - cured meats on site

Lunch:
Bar Taco - great paito for drinks as well
The Pharmacy - awesome beer garden, lock your car here
Burger Republic - in the Gulch where you are staying
Rudy's Sausage and Seafood - get the Lobster Roll

Bars:
Winners and Losers
Pinewood Social
The Beer Pale

Late Night:
Just go to Lower Broadway

Winner's and Losers and any place downtown that has a band or singer you like could be many different ones.

If you go to ACME or anywhere else on lower Broadway make sure to get there relatively early. If you show up at 10:30 the lines are long and inside you won't be able to move. 8 PM or so is a good time to go.
